    NHTSA: 23V604 - Volkswagen Recall: 28H7 – Ignition Switch (2019)

No physical letter, yet. I wonder if they pause notification until a fix is available (unless it's a 'don't operate' recall).

    NHTSA: 23V604 - Volkswagen Recall: 28H7 – Ignition Switch (2019)

This appeared upon inspecting my CARFAX Car Care record and I didn't see any threads yet. I suppose my service advisor didn't mention it when I was in for recent warranty work (thermostat housing & oil pan leaks), as there is no fix available...

Falken FK510 vs General Gmax RS, impressions

+1 on the Falken 510FK (a few thousand miles on them, 225/40R18). My recent experience in a bad hailstorm, with lots of hail/water on the road, confirms wet traction performance.

    Are Golf’s reliable?

Our 2019 Golf Sportwagen and 2019 Alltrack (sold this summer) have been very reliable, however we don't drive many miles. No mechanical modifications.

Who hasn't had any sunroof issues?

2019 Alltrack SE, bought new January 2020, sold June 2022 - no issues.

Looking for the location of the stock catalytic converter

Thieves suck. RE: difficulty of Cat removal - some thieves just escalate to GTA - a family we know had their CRV stolen & recovered at a park not far away; only their Cat removed. The post above about lowered suspension has me thinking...

    Possible gateway problem with MK7

If available, the VCDS / VAGCOM codes that triggered the errors would be useful to post.

    Rattle Search and Destroy Mission

bump for this, as it solved my hatch rattle: https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/hatch-rattle-fixed.387440/

    Hatch rattle fixed

Thank you for posting this, cbenjes. I checked both nuts and they were, indeed, loose! My rattle sure sounded like the latch mechanism and this confirms it. Update after driving: tightened nuts = no rear hatch rattle.

    First Snow in Alltrack

I've had excellent experience with Nokians.

Why did you choose the mk7 golf/gti/r?

It was the only (AFAIK) affordable AWD, turbo, manual wagon in our market in 2019. Warranty made the sale. I thought it was the vehicle they should have been offering here since the Golf MK4 got 4motion.

    Winter Tire Thread

2019 GSW with factory brakes: Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3, 195/65-R15, on steel wheels (w/balance weights on rim lip). It is unlikely that 15" alloys with wheel weights glued inside the rim would clear the brakes.

    Getting a GTD.....Need advice

We've never gotten the GT or GTD diesels over here. A pre-purchase inspection by your trusted independent VW mechanic should tell if the service history missed any points of concern. Always worth paying for, prior to a major investment.

New wheels golf 1.6 tdi mk 7

input your old & new setup parameters to see what fits: https://tiresize.com/wheel-offset-calculator/ For reference, the largest OEM rim & tire size for the mk7 GTI is a 7.5Jx18 ET49 wearing a 225/40R18. I'm using that size on my Golf Sportwagen's summer rims.

What did you do to your mk7 today?

35% ceramic tint on both wagons. Very pleased with the heat blocking performance.

    First Time Buyer Research (GTI/R)

Similar comment to bitflogger: for the money, an MK7/7.5 DSG Golf Sportwagen 4motion (a non-raised Alltrack) delivers very good handling/traction that can be tuned to GTI levels of power. Drive them all, KayN920. You'll really appreciate AWD in Canada, with the proper tires.

    Liking any other VW Models?

Sadly, nothing VW sends here, the fools ;-) The Up would be a stellar city car for cramped streets & parking. We bought the Golf wagons, as we aren't sent the Passat wagon (U.S. plant incomprehensibly never made 4mo wagons, you're welcome Subaru). The Touran we rented in Europe was super...

    General Questions from someone New

When looking for larger wheel/tires I looked here: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/volkswagen/golf/2017/ 225/40R18 is the factory 18 option, but you can input different parameters (like 235), to see how it changes various aspects: https://www.willtheyfit.com/
