    J255C’s 2018 Golf R Manual Thread

Golf R Vortex Turbo Std. TLDR: Now that I’ve put a couple thousand miles on this- Spools fully by 3500rpm vs. stock turbo 2900rpm. It feel very comparable to a 20G on a Subaru but has 80whp more on 93 octane (430whp at 31psi). MPG down from 30->27.5. Leave it alone Jeff. Still remains the most...

    Excessive Dry Noise over Bumps

I had my steering rack and strut bearings or whatever they’re called no fix. I’m convinced it’s the LCA bushings or my shocks are done altogether. 72K miles

    Gbot's 19R 2.5VR6T Build

Very cool. Im thinking of nabbing an early 00s Toyota for a backup. Mine has reached my goals for power- brakes and suspension to follow…orrrr get a cayman.

    Gbot's 19R 2.5VR6T Build

Awesome! Will you be daily driving this still? What is the goal behind this?

    Warranty is up!

I have no intention of pushing this vehicle past 430whp. That is quite enough from a 4 cylinder. I will run 93 and be happy with it. If I want more I’m getting greedy. This isn’t my first rodeo -Ive owned Subarus and Evos this is really the furthest I would go without ruining reliability.

What’s that expression “opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got them and they all stink.” Here’s Ed’s from EQTs thoughts on MPI vs HPFP. https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/eqt-vortex-mqb-turbo.356402/page-203#post-7707152

    Warranty is up!

I’m not chasing 500whp. Hpfp is just fine on a vortex std. there’s less areas of failure.Eqt has agreed if power goals are not aggressive this is perfectly fine. I do not do anything with UM

Please show me engines that have blown from hpfp upgrades and not bearing or overpushing it?

Open Source stage 2 vs Accessport tuning

My take is just stick with your Stage 1 high torque file. The gains are not worth it IMO.

    Warranty is up!

Or don’t want to spend $3000 unnecessarily for my power goals.

    Warranty is up!

Running just fine on a hpfp only with a vortex

Acadia Celebrates 1 Year With MQB #3, Wonders If It's Time To Upgrade...

I have a solution to your CEL problem. Hockey tape. Run an o2 spacer and plug in for a couple days before emissions and stay out of boost.

    EQT E-Tuning Q&A

Yeah I had a CTS catted downpipe and it sounded like a trumpet with the stock exhaust and I felt was absolutely obnoxious and droney. So we have different sound tolerances. Don’t want to clutter this thread with exhaust sound setups. Just wanted to chime in -I’m a happy EQT Vortex Std customer...

    Building Otto

I just put some hockey tape cut with a razor over my cel. Can’t even notice it. O2 spacer does the trick for readiness it seems

    EQT E-Tuning Q&A

Mine is not, do you have a catted downpipe and stock exhaust and stock box location filter? I’m actually happy it doesn’t sound too ricey.

    EQT E-Tuning Q&A

Oh this car sounds like absolute garbage and yes a diesel, especially with the SB clutch. I have an open air intake so it’s not that much different IMO.

    EQT E-Tuning Q&A

No difference in sound or spool that can be felt compared to a stage 2 setup. This really is a well designed turbo for moderate power goals.
