    Cars and Bids, BAT, etc.

Looks like a great car for a trackday! I wonder how people how to dial in these giant wings and aero? Doubtful they’d take it to a wind tunnel so I wonder how it’s set up? Perhaps there’s the use of a level and some math based on the design?

Ironically, the opposite of the definition of the word subliminal.

    GTI vs Cayenne Turbo GTS

I came up on a Cayenne Turbo GT the other day and I was sad they didn’t want to find out if they were faster than a golf. Looks really heavy but hard to say how they’d do. Similarly, I got the best of a GLE63s AMG when I just had is38 and ots 91 tune on the same stretch.

vs. stock G82 M4 Comp - very impressed

Finally got out with a G82 M4 today and I’m very impressed. Young driver, new to the road so I was leading. It was really hard to drop him in/ out of turns if at all. We both wanted to see what the straight line difference was and it’s substantial. Loved the lines and the front honestly...

    Mk7R vs 997 GT3RS

You get it! My favorite drives have been Dawn Patrol, just shredding away with you and your buddies in amazing cars, not having to worry about pedestrians or bicyclists. Anything after the sun’s out for a bit is a gamble. It doesn’t seem like a lot of drivers here understand dawn/ dusk...

    Mk7R vs 997 GT3RS

Yeah it made me sad and frustrated that those guys didn’t know their cars, and that they didn’t understand that yielding to faster traffic is a good thing. I think there are a definitely a few supercar owners that don’t focus on certain aspects of driving and I’ve seen quite a few people try to...

    Jim Lloyd 5/13/1948 till 5/25/2022

I was just reading a post of Jim’s this morning and wish he was still here posting. I guess that he could come back in AI form, but that’s going to be weird when that technology does happen and is widely available and utilized.

    Mk7R vs 997 GT3RS

Geeze, 1200 miles! Altitude has a lot to do with my Rs relative speed compared with NA engines up above 9k’. I would have loved to lead those 911s but they just dropped after just a few turns anytime they were behind me. I didn’t want to follow too closely as there’s tons of sand and I don’t...

    Mk7R vs 997 GT3RS

Yeah I think you’re correct on both points. The second gt3 driver (in silver) held up my friends in their FC RX7s, which is just plain sad. Coincidentally, there was a black 997 gt3 that came up while I was waiting and he seemed like he had pace, but I just had to wait and listen to him rip up...

    Mk7R vs 997 GT3RS

The R is so capable, it’s hard to believe. I watched several 911s fly by as I waited for some friends to hit a mountain road the other day. Finally, my buddies show up just as a couple GT3s fly by, so it was a little catch up. I’ll be honest that I was disappointed by the lack of corner...

    Cars and Bids, BAT, etc.

I think I’ve seen some crazy prices for low mileage examples but I don’t pay attention to that market very much. Analog sells, though, these days more than ever.

128k miles, should be fairly inexpensive.

Rocky Mountain High - high altitude cruising with some CO enthusiasts

I never thought I’d say the following: I got held up by a 997 GT3RS today. The following were factors, I’m sure: Both of the GT3s that I caught were obviously not familiar with their cars’ limits. They probably didn’t trust the somewhat moist, 40-45° roads, and didn’t want to risk going into...

    Garages of golfmk7.com: picture thread

Nice! I have a rule that stuff can’t take up enough space to displace a parking spot. Glad to see the Fox body! I had an LX 5.0 hatchback and it was a great car. Antique, lol! Oh man that makes me feel old.

    Vs STI

STIs can be surprising sometimes. I had an ats-v and got it tuned. Took it to a dyno for a final revision and was so stoked to see ~550whp/ 550 tq. I was so happy to finally have a 500whp car and I’m cruising home from the dyno shop and what do I see in my rear view…a STI that thinks he’s...

    Vs STI

A friend had an Alpha 4c with aftermarket exhaust that sounded great. I could hear him passing by the house and it always made me happy. Also, there’s a Cayman in my neighborhood that’s sounds pretty good too, though it might be a 6cyl. Pretty sure he has a Fabspeed muffler (at least). I do...

    Is this normal knock?

Man I wish I could tell you but I don’t know if that’s correct. I don‘t think that tuning in cold would make much of a difference as it’s spark related and not temperature related. I had a custom remote tune twice with 2 different cars (in the winter) and never had any mention of temperature...

    Is this normal knock?

I’m certainly not an expert but I was of the understanding that less than -3° isn’t to big of a deal. Duration is a little more than I’d like to see if this were my car. Maybe you can further mitigate with a grounding kit or clean all the contacts?

    Cars and Bids, BAT, etc.

Man there’s some crazy prices in the car market. +80k mile e30 not even selling for $72k. Wtf!?! Nostalgia markup is nuts these days.
