    CSS Front Knuckles

From my understanding it's the final letter in the part number. -E is the CSS knuckle and the -A the standard knuckle. Also, I'm guessing it's just a typo, but I think you transcribed the 0 and the 4 incorrectly. Just wanted to point that out to make sure you have the right part number.

    200tw tires for Track use

Not going to start a pissing contest with you because you did not read the original question and posted screenshots of the incorrect tire. Enjoy being a keyboard warrior who gets defensive and sarcastic when he's wrong.

    200tw tires for Track use

From the post saying plastic wheel well liners, I'm assuming the fronts. Which, to me, would still be tread width since it's right at that corner that rubs the fender liner/screw. But I agree it depends on what is rubbing.

    200tw tires for Track use

I stand corrected, I was looking at the AS4's. What I'm currently running on my car as a daily, as it's a fairly "common" tire for people to run and Michelin Pilot Sports tend to run "wide" And I was comparing to R-S4 in 245/40/18 since that's what he was asking about, not the Michelin which...

    200tw tires for Track use

Have you done the fender screw mod? I had minor rubbing issues under hard compression on 245/40/18s, which was remedied by the fender screw mod. FWIW, TireRack says a 235/40/18 Michelin PS4 is 8.3" wide vs a 245/40/18 R-S4 is 9.9" wide.

    Questions about upcoming SMOG check

If you've looked at the dyno charts from EQT, they pretty much explain it. You're fully spooled on the is38 stg 2 by ~2900 RPM vs the vortex at ~3400 RPM. As someone who grew up on a '02 WRX that would bog under 2500 RPM and the "auto-x size turbo" didn't hit peak torque until ~3900 RPM , my...

    Questions about upcoming SMOG check

I just went from IS38 stage 2 to Vortex standard + stock DP. As a daily, I don't mind the additional lag, but I drive pretty conservatively on the street. I literally just got back from my first track day with the vortex and it requires a completely different style of driving, which I'm slowly...

    Questions about upcoming SMOG check

If you still want power, the Vortex + factory DP tune from EQT is a great option. Peak power is a small bump from stage 2, but the car pulls hard to redline. Only things you need to swap for smog are the TMAP/PUT sensors and flash back to a CARB legal tune.

    BMS Intercooler

Yeah, sorry to see you're another one with poor results. I posted my datalog showing the 32 degrees over ambient and the result of the crap welds/quality on post #473 of this thread. I hope it has helped deter people from wasting their money on this thing.

    BMS Intercooler

You're about in line with what most people experience. I had about 18 degrees over ambient in 3rd gear with the BMS IC, and then on a 4th gear pull a whopping 32 degrees over ambient. It's not a good intercooler.

Best Off the Shelf Coilovers for Golf R that Can Be Revalved and Shortened

I'm not disagreeing with you that the service 3DM provides is $500. I'm saying I don't think it's the same service because my parts bill alone was $450. A quick google search on a few of the parts results in similar pricingto what PSI charged me. Sure, hourly labor rates in CA are higher due...

Best Off the Shelf Coilovers for Golf R that Can Be Revalved and Shortened

Maybe I got taken for a ride, but just parts was basically $450. I don't see how a rebuild can cost $500.

Best Off the Shelf Coilovers for Golf R that Can Be Revalved and Shortened

Saving a grand off new is very optimistic. Not to speak anything bad about mmdb, I bought some of his parts since he's local to me and was a great guy to buy from. Ohlins says to rebuild shocks every 30k kms or 20k miles of street driving, that might be a little overkill but I'd guess with...

Best Off the Shelf Coilovers for Golf R that Can Be Revalved and Shortened

Ohlins can be revalved, but I do not think they can be shortened. Ohlins does not supply any hard parts for rebuilds on the R&T kit, only seals, fluids, etc. Maybe AST or Moton? I was talking to the guys at Performance Shock at Sonoma and they said AST has all pieces available for rebuilds...

Audi aluminum subframe on Mk7 Gti

If you're going to be installing the subframe, why not get solid bushings while you're in there? Something like the RacingLine that has both the upper and lower solid puck. I know there's other manufacturers for it as well, but I forget off the top of my head. FWIW, my mechanic was happy I...

    Is This Right?

Lol, VWs are now so advanced they brake the laws of physics. You should ask the advisor if the car nose dives when accelerating, he might be confused on the which side the front of the car is. To answer your question, though, the XDS system can cause accelerated wear of the rear brakes. I...

    Brake Rotor conditions

Am I seeing things in the 2nd photo of OP where it looks like the rotor is separating from the hat? To me, that looks like a crack and is a rotor about to fail. Otherwise, I agree about the micro cracks. My stock rotors developed those after a hard day or two on track.

    Socal FS/ FT/ WTB Thread

FS: Heatwrapped BCS Powervalve 100 cell catted DP with helmholtz resonator for R. On car for ~29k miles. A few scuffs from daily driving, but no issues with DP. I decided to go Vortex with factory DP route. Resonator is piped to match with factory axleback. Link to product page...

Where to track in Bay Area

Where: Sonoma, Thunder Hill, Laguna Seca are your closest tracks. Budget: Very dependent on you. Cheaper track days will have more cars in a session and (in my experience) tend to attract more reckless drivers. I've seen parts fall off cars, people brake check me trying to give me a point...
