    “Lap timers” thread

That's a great point about using a Gopro w/ GPS and just import that into Racechrono. I think mine is something like 18-20hz GPS inside the gopro. What you miss out on is real time laptime display or the ability to overlay with OBD engine data.. But as others have said.... you've got plenty...

    “Lap timers” thread

I've bought all of the phone app lap timers and without a doubt I would recommend RaceChrono. The paid version supports OBD data as well.

    Open source tuning solution

VW Flash and simos tools can both flash DQ250, DQ381

    Open source tuning solution

You can update to 0005 no problem. Going to 259C is for a TTS and flashing to a different car's software or USDM to WM etc will result in immo brick so be careful.

    Open source tuning solution

Yeah, 8S0906259__0005 is in the flashdaten. Pretty common file structure, can definitely tune it.

    Open source tuning solution

It can, usually. It's just not a simple on/off toggle.

    Open source tuning solution

I really woudn't recommend it, unless you already have a MPVI2/3 or some spare credits to burn. The OS route is much better, the only downside is HPtuners software is easier to use for sure, especially if it something youre already familiar with.

    Obd2 Scanner

OBD11 or VCDS is your best option by far for general diag for these cars. Not only will they read any engine module, but the 20+ other modules in the car. Plus perform various diag functions etc. I have OBD11, but they changed their model recently to a subscription style, so give VCDS a look IMO.

APR DTR6054 Direct Turbocharger Replacement System

Look at any of the decent logs posted....it's just quite laggy, end of story. Laggier than I'd like anyways, especially for a turbo / tune limited to stock fueling system.

    Gt2260s issues after install

The code is for P0036 aka rear O2 sensor unplugged. OBD11 is probably not detecting/displaying it decoded because of the Cobb conROM box code. 20638 P003600 O2 Sensor Heater Contr. Circ.(Bank1(1)Sensor 2) SV_ERR_SYM_LSH_LS_OC_1.20638

    OBD Stand Alone Multi Gauges

gotcha, yeah that makes sense. I picked up a Kindle Fire HD8 for $45 on amazon prime day, something like that could also be a good "standalone" "perm install" setup

Do our cars have true oil temperature sensors? Calculated vs. measured oil temp?

It's a good question, I have an Audi, but I notice a difference between what I see on the cluster versus Accessport or similar logging tool. I think the cluster is showing some sort of averaged sensor reading and the accessport/tool is showing a modeled value. I actually looked into my tune...

    Cobb Accessport?

Ballpark about 50% more. About 100% if you did 2.0 HPFP and upgraded internals. 2.0 cars target 200bar rail pressure all the way to red line and iirc a stock tune 1.8 starts to taper down to 170 bar by 5000rpm or so. not a huge difference
  16. aaronc7

    Cobb Accessport?

Yep... even more baffling to me is how it took them a few years to release Audi A3 and S3 support. Versus a GTI/Golf R, they are literally the exact same ECU, exact same box codes, exact same tune files. The only thing preventing it was a VIN check they put in place. It is very surprising it...

    Cobb Accessport?

The 1.8 stuff appears to be on the 002 part number, same as GTI/A3. I still don't know why there's a separate part number for them. Most likely explanation is memory limit issues having it all on one AP firmware.

Flash Back to Stock without Knowing Tuner

Also, show them this (and the dealer). It appears to be an update for 2015+ Golf R, MT only? It actually says 2017 only but that's also strange. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10201482-0001.pdf
