I have a 2017 GTI SE I recently replaced my Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ with some Pilot Sport AS4 tires. I noticed now that the initial brake “bite” that I felt previously with my car is gone. I guess it could be the tires, but on paper at least the AS4 is at least as good as the AS3+ In braking. The thing is I had better initial bite also with the stock Pirelli P7. I literally drove into the tire shop with grabby performance pack brakes and drove out with my brakes feeling more like an old Ford Taurus. They feel faded I guess and it’s very consistent. I doubt my pads suddenly wore out when they changed the tires. Is there something that can happen with a tire/wheel swap that could cause a change in braking feel?
FWIW the new tires have about 1000 miles on them.
