Oil pan replacement on the Golf R using four jack stands

A couple of mechanics quoted me between $600 and $800 to change the oil pan on my 2015 R.

I could buy a new pan, gasket and some oil for around $100-$150, but I was wondering if the replacement job is doable with the car on 4 jack stands in the driveway, or a full lift is necessary.
Has any of you ever attempted/completed this process without using a lift?

Thank you for your input.

$600-800 for a job that should take a skilled mechanic 2 hours?

you could do that on ramps as well... you really don't need that much space as long as you can crawl underneath it.

I did mine on ramps. Shop dap has a nice video on how to and all the torque specs. Super easy.

Thank you guys!
It’s not broken/cracked, but it seems to be leaking around the seal on one side.

Glad to hear that some of you were able to do it using just jack stands… it gives me hope that I may be able to pull it off myself.

I'd recommend buying a set of Race Ramps to do the job as it would be easier than jack stands and can be used for oil changes (if you drain from the pan) and other work.
