Yeah i saw 1.8 but i swear audis and vw are not identical in build to why i stated that maybe same engine but built differently...
Aside from different engine codes, the engines in a 2016 A3 and a 2017 Golf are exactly the same internally. They even come out of the factory with identical tunes (170HP @ 4500rpm, 200 lb-ft @ 1600rpm), so there's no reason to expect them to behave differently from each other.

Understood sorry i didnt know as generally they say Audis are like higher end in terms of luxurious cars vs volkswagen just daily driving depending i guess which line you buy golf or jettas or whatever else is there.

On the my fuel tank flap it does say "MIN 87." Saying 'minimum' is very different in wording to recommended or required.

There is also a line in my owners manual in the engine data section that says "If Regular gasoline is recommended for your engine, you may be able to enhance engine performance by using Premium gasoline."

It also clearly says that the power outputs for the GTI and R are with Premium, but does not indicate that with the 1.4t engine...so presumably power output would be higher with Premium, although not expressly stated. This is where I appreciate Mazda clearly saying what an engine makes with 87 vs 91 in their 2.5 turbo; 227 vs 250hp.
