I've always used Wix filters on my cars.
Whatever oil VW tells you to run, or your tuner tells you to run, will work fine.

Im quite a big fan of LiquiMoly MolyGen 5W-40 with a OEM oil filter from VW or mann filter, depending where you are the Napa gold filters are really good to.

Yeah I usually went with OEM filter and previously on mk6 Motul Xcess-8100 oil I believe it was. I was strict with only buying that oil for this car and I think I used it on my SRT4 years prior. Though then I switched to Liquimoly because it was a cheaper deal packaged with the OEM filter online. I found the same package deal for the mk7 so I went with it. I honestly can't tell between the two which is better from a driving standpoint but heard great things on performance cars for Motul Xcess so I went with that initially. My car is stock so I just use an oem VW filter and oil. The VW branded 508, 0W-20 is weirdly one of the cheaper options from what I've seen and I can order 4 - 1L bottles instead of a 5L bottle
