Need Wheel Spacer’s for GTI W/ Pretoria Rims

Evening all,

First, I wanted to share some quick background info as I recently come across what are perceived as a rare find: Aluminum polished VW Pretoria rims. I recently decided to find a set for the car but they were very difficult to find second hand (Zero chance I was paying $500 per rim plus tires for all brand new stuff). Instead, I reached out to a friend who advised me to search via PART NUMBER instead of the name of the part. I am not exactly sure if this method has been used by other previously but I managed to find a person in MA selling a half new/ half used set for $800 w/ continental all season tires. So I drove from NY to MA, picked up the set and installed them. They’re a phenomenal set and I’m looking very forward to driving them.

HOWEVER...

The reason why I’m making this thread is that I need to find the correct wheel spacers (and MAYBE some bolt coverings) In order to make the rims look flush for my GTI. Recommendations would be appreciated!

If this question has been asked already, tagging the appropriate thread here would suffice as well :)

Can you post pics of the wheels? That price sounds eerily low for Pretoria’s. Sounds like 18’s, or replicas.

if you got legit OEM 19” Pret’s, you would want 10mm front and 15mm rear spacers for a flush look. If you got legit OEM 18” Pretoria’s, you would want 15F/20R spacers. I happen to have a set of 15F/20R spacers available if you need that sizing. I didn’t plan on selling them but I think I’ll be doing a fully aftermarket winter + summer tire setup so I shouldn’t need the spacers.

I dont have pics available now but I will say the gentleman did have a Golf R in the garage. He had a set of OZ’s nd another winter set, wanted to sell these 19”s. I have the 15mm for the rear so I suppose I’ll order the 10MM’s.

The Pretoria wheels don’t fit right on GTI’s straight on like our OEM wheels?

They fit without spacers, but they people add spacers for have a more flush look. I want to say I had 10/15 on my GTI with Pretorias.

Just tried this recently, might go down to 5’s in the rear. fits pretty good up front without the spacers

no, there’s no difference between the position of the hubs. So they look the “same” on an R and a GTI, barring OEM suspension differences
Exactly. In my opinion there’s no real need for the spacers, you can barely tell the difference.

yeah I can’t agree with this. Pret’s are 19x8 w/ same offset as GTI 18x7.5’s. GTIs have serious wheel tuck. Bone stock R’s have serious wheel tuck too, as the face of Prets are only 6mm further from the hub than Dallas/Austin/18” Pret.

Flush kits for 18x7.5” OEM-wheel GTIs are 15F/20R. Based on willtheyfit’s info that the .5” barrel increase equals 6.3mm further from the hub, a Pretoria flush kit would want something like 10F/15R.

This makes perfect sense, I stand corrected.
