Here is a shot of my 2017 Golf Tsi 1.8T with 16" wheels and 312mm rotors off a GTI. I just barely cleared the calipers. I think even VW says the GTI can't have anything smaller than 16" wheels to clear the standard brakes.
I put a larger RSB on my Golf. I'm sure it was intended for a GTI. I later installed the FSB from a GTI and it helped balance things out. The stock springs are really soft, too. Upgrading the springs really helps with the roll.
When I first did this, there wasn't a serial number in the field at all. I just put the day's date in there. Now I know when I installed the battery, if I need it.
