Check engine lights on .. I’ve been pulling p0171 for a couple weeks assuming it was my oxygen sensor, no symptoms except a loud whining/droning noise once passed 2000rpm.. Around the same time I had clumps of “grey hair” fibers coming out of my exhaust. Fast forward to last night coming home from work, car lost power on the freeway. Coasted to a stop on the shoulder and car wouldn’t start. Had to leave there to get towed… it’s home now and scanner is still reading p0171 with pending p12A1, p2293, p0101, p0342. Engine has what I’m assuming is oil splatter all over around the fuel pump and underneath the car?

Won’t start, doesn’t sound like there’s any combustion happening when I try to start the engine.. slight chirping sound as it tries to crank but never turns over. Any ideas?!?! 😫

Not sure, those oil filter housings always leak though, did you ever check the timing chain on the drivers side portion? There's also plastic rings in there which used to give me random codes on both my mkv's. Other than that, you def need a leak down/compression test.

I don't think the check forum light is on though.

No but I’ll look into it! I’m just learning as I go trying to help my father out, ole mule ain’t what he used to be since cancer. So bear with my ignorance.. Like I said, daddy’s girl learning here and there as things fail … 🥴🥹💆🏻‍♀️

Ohio.. I’m thinking it’s vacuum pump that’s leaking
For less than $200, you can have a certified VW/Audi professional Diag your engine, and potentially protect you from further damage/expense.

Always keep this in mind when consulting Internet forums to fix your car, as well as the risk of throwing parts at a problem that hasn’t been clearly diagnosed.

Not being mean, just candid. From decades doing this.

I am 40 mins from a dealer and can’t afford to tow it there and back, already paid $400 for a tow home when it broke down on the freeway 😫
