Yes. You can also try to put the key in the door and turn it towards locking and hold it in that position

I’ll look into it but I don’t think I have lock tumblers.

I don’t have any. If you look at my profile picture, that’s actually a really good vantage point. I called my local VW dealer and bought a new switch that’ll arrive tomorrow but not sure what to do other than a plastic bag over the window.

^^Hint:

1. you need to slightly pull on the handle to get the cap off
2. If you have never done this try it at home on a nice day to see how it works

What I did.....this week they are paving main street in my small town. Back road Durhamring every day! 10 miles of two lane fun

Awesome! Thank you guys very much. I parked in a parking garage and went and got the truck. I’ll give it a shot later today when I’m able. Thank you!!
I’m probably not doing it correctly because it didn’t go up. I turned towards lock in several different ways, some less some more. I’ll try again later.

Not done today, but 800 miles ago earlier this month I can now claim that the 'Stage 1' type remap on my 1.5 TSI,
('150' DADA) Estate is a 99% certain success and so I'm happy that I didn't wait until the car's official 3rd birthday.

The car already had the official VW 'kangaroo fix' remap very early in it's life, which itself was an improvement and
has worked pretty well for over 2.5 years/13K miles.

Bald figures are 160 HP / 196 lb/ft before and 173 HP / 231 lb/ft after, (119 KW / 267 Nm - 129 KW / 314 Nm)
running on ethanol-free Esso 99 Supreme petrol. Engine is stock standard apart from a Golf GTE-style airbox mod
and the snow grate removed. Ambient temps were a high for UK 31 deg. C, which wouldn't have helped the figures.

When the tuner asked what I wanted, I stated that the ultimate in economy or peak power was of little concern and
hoped for a map which offered the widest rev range between the peaks of maximum power and torque. IME engines
with such wide power bands always work well on road cars. Effectively I was requesting a 'blended' map somewhere
twixt the typical max economy and max performance option - and with a near 40% increase in that rev range I guess
that's what got delivered.

Finally broke it at the track.

The car felt amazing all day and then all the sudden shit the bed in the 4th session. My clutch dropped to the floor on an aggressive 2nd-3rd shift. I "shifted" back to neutral and coasted off the track.

I've owned my car for 5 years, 68,000 miles and ~15 track days so far. This is the first real issue I've ever had with the car and the only time It has ever left me stranded.

Anyway, AAA said it would be close to midnight before they could get someone out so I had to leave my car at the track. Ill have to go back to figure something out tomorrow.
The shop finally got a chance to look at my car today. After a 6 days of the car sitting my official diagnosis is:

"confirmed hydraulic fluid leaking from bell housing area.
rec to remove transmission assembly and inspect clutch & slave cylinder."

I was quoted $1200 to tear it down and fix whatever it may be plus whatever the parts will cost. I dont have another car and I need to get to work so I dont have much of a choice. I'd much rather have a VW specialist do this but my trusted go-to shop, NGP, is booked into October. I guess this is what I get for tracking my daily. I went ahead an approved the quote and hope to hear back tomorrow.

I was pretty bummed so I went and checked out a new Supra today.

I finally installed my BFI stage 1 tranny mount and the RocEuro arm. Haven’t driven it too much, but my initial impressions are pretty good. NVH has been cut wayyyyyy down. I honestly did not expect the arm to make a big of a difference as it did.

I was pretty bummed so I went and checked out a new Supra today. They want a $1000 (fully refundable, no-commitment) deposit for an order with an expected delivery of January. I am very temped.

This happened to me not too long ago, I was lucky to get it home and it finally gave out in the garage. Pedal went to the floor and fluid weird looking bluish type fluid leaked from the bell housing to the floor. The color was due to mixing with some dirt on the bell housing. But only thing that needed replacing was slave cylinder. I did the clutch was well because it was slipping and I needed something beefier. I was quoted $600 labor and the cost of parts.

Stupid thing is magical, no? (y)
Yes, yes it is. I really didn’t expect it to make as big of a difference as it did, but damn if it isn’t close to stock NVH wise.
