So, you guys may have seen my posts above about the used JB4 with 4 plugs, yada, yada... Well, it was a really old JB1 that was updated to JB4 but was used in Vegas and was totally cooked and just never read anything, and I only felt a small boost the first day then stopped... so, I'm returning it back to the seller, who's not happy, but he sold me a cooked piece of crap and I bought another used one off this forum classifieds, like new condition, beautiful, I installed and it works perfectly.
Only problem is that it came off a Golf R MK7.5 and either it comes with a full-on plug for the AFR or he did a mod for it, so
I'm waiting for my T fit connector to add my AFR wire. Can anyone explain what it it actually does? I know you are *supposed* to connect it for any of the upper maps, but my AFR's seem to be reading just fine. Is this literally just to adjust the FOL if we are leaning out? Or are the AFR's I'm getting simply wrong and I'm gonna blow up my car? Here is a combo log, it is 2 pulls I made into 1, the 2nd half is the 2nd pull with shift into 4th gear. This is Map 3 on our very underrated "92" octane in the Northwest. Here in OR, WA, HI we have always had this "92 minimum" fuel made up in N. WA state, even before the e10 mandate. Well, when the e10 mandate kicked in, I think they said "hell with it, let's just keep refining it the same and not bother re-rating the octane either" and we have very solid actual 93+ octane here. Someone from Canada mentioned earlier that our 92 is better than their 94 and I believe it. Logs look absolutely perfect on Map 3, but yeah, it's a nice and chilly 39 degrees F out as well, so I'm sure that's helping. Just stock box intake "insuction" mods on otherwise stock IS12 car (Drop in, snow grate removal, silicone hose, TMD, TIP, heat wrapped silicone hose and extra heat deflection, semi-wrap on hot side of turbo, original plugs at 30k miles... I think I'm ready for Map 6, but will need the AFR connected for sure at that point. I also have an IS20 with install kit and RS7 plugs ready to go, but I'm a little intimidated to do it all by myself and my car buddies have been flaking on me lately, unfortunately.
Also, reading thru this entire thread I saw discussion over pedal tuners, etc. and I've found the "Enhanced Throttle Response" setting on the OBDEleven along with the JB4 is a great combo for drivability and responsiveness.
