Hi Guys,
I have 2018 Golf Se Nav that I need your help with. I keep getting Front assist not available, I have had the the old sensor replaced since it was damaged in an accident, however after calibrating the new the sensor seems to lose calibration after a few miles of driving and I get the front assist not available, I was wondering whether any of you guys have experienced this issue before and come up with a solution for myself. None of the functionality regarding the front cruise control sensor works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Who is doing the calibration?

There's a independent garage in the local area im not too sure about the name of his shop though or what he uses to do it but after taking it to him a few times he manages to get it working and I can drive away with the cruise control sensor working so I'm assuming that he's doing his job of calibrating right? Or is it an error on his part?

He either calibrates it and it works or it doesn't. Sounds like a loose connection. Ask him if he is also calibrating it but check the wiring connections.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Doesn't sound like it's getting calibrated at all. They're probably just resetting the misalignment angle. This is only temporary and it will recalculate the angle soon after.

Calibration requires proper ADAS equipment.

Ohh ok, do you reckon it will be wise of me to go elsewhere and see if they can calibrate it rather than wasting my time with the current garage. I mean I haven't really paid him yet so its no harm to me. Do you guys have any recommendations on a garage local to the west midlands that specialises in these sort of things?

I'll ask him exactly how he does his calibration and post it as soon as I know, and thanks for the welcome and help.

VW Retrofit in Redditch. Alex will take care of you.

Thanks Guys for Your help turned out the Garage i initially took it to never had the right equipment to be carrying out the calibration and was trying to use an old mirror of some sort. But I've taken it to Car Tech Bradford I know a long way away from me and they managed to sort it using the right equipment

He could have just done a bad job calibrating. I tried at first calibrating my radar with a wall. It would work for a day or so, then stop working. If they aren't calibrated properly it can work for a time and stop

In actual fact most of the time the sensor is very slight out of its brackets (three leg sockets) even though it looks OK....& VCDS can perform one of the resets to enable the unit to then self learn on a drive...

I did a big thread a few years back on Ross-tech as i was having ACC problems at the same time & problems with another Modification!..
