OEM Splash Guard installation instructions

I want to add VW OEM front and rear splash guards to my 2021 GTI and I think that these are the correct P/Ns:

Front: 5GV-075-116
Rear: 5GV-075-105

Most (but not all) websites show that the Front P/N will fit my car, but oddly, most show that the Rear P/N will not. I suspect that its because the websites have failed to update their databases with newer years. Are these P/Ns correct? Thanks y'all.

By the way Pete_CFB, great idea using the hair dryer. (y)

5GV-075-105-A is the part number for the rear splash guards on a Mk7.5 (2018-2021); should be the same across all those years. 5GV-075-116 looks like the correct part number for the fronts, so I think you were just missing the "A" appellation for the rears. Fwiw BAM looks like the cheapest for both I've been able to find, got my rears there a couple months ago: fronts and rears.

Thanks bobloblawGTI -- exactly what I needed. It appears that the "A" version allows fitment for the body trim. (y)

All installed today and looking good.

I could not figure out how to do the job without jacking up the car (for the first time) and removing the wheels.

I drilled all the holes as specified in the factory instructions. Everything fits nice and sturdy.

Nice work! VW engineered the mudflaps to withstand pretty much anything. Mine installed well too on my '21. I removed my tires, front and back to make it easy. Glad I did, as I found rust on my hubs and had to use some force to knock the wheels loose. I wish mine looked as clean and rust-free as yours.

I would recommend a layer of clear film under the front ones, to prevent rubbing on the paint. I did that with mine, was recommended by the dealer where i bought them. In fact they gave me a piece of 3M clear film when i picked them up. You can see the edges of the film in the picture below. I had just lowered the car from the jack, that´s why it looks like an SUV :)

Are all of the drilled holes going into plastic?

Has anyone with a regular Golf installed these with drilling? Because I don't believe we have a plastic area for the front ones for the holes on step #8

Yes, all of the drilled holes go into existing plastic. I was super careful to not let the bit grab, yank the drill up and have the bit impact metal. There's about a 1/2" of open area beyond the tip of the bit, so there's plenty of space for safety.

I installed mudguards on my wife's MK7 Golf years ago and I don't recall drilling into anything but plastic, but I see why you might be concerned. I'll check it out when she gets home with the Golf.

All drilling was into plastic. No metal was harmed.

I also have the oem flaps. You do not need to do any drilling. The screws are more than adequate to hold them in place (even past the second half of the speedo)

Just looked and yes, the drilling is into plastic. gmgti is probably correct in that no drilling is likely needed. I drilled when mounting my wife's and mine. A few years ago my wife ran over some paint cans that had fallen from a nitwit's pickup truck at night. I was glad that the mudflaps held strong, as they likely probably prevented dents in the body as the crushed cans flew out and the tire side of the mudflap was coated in white paint that would have otherwise doused the car.
