You can't really tell by looking at it. Grab the engine and see how much you can rock it, if it moves a lot you might want to consider replacing them or upgrading
Thanks for the replies. Everything feels fine, just saw the gap between the rubber and aluminum and thought it looked collapsed. Couldn’t find a pic of a OE mount installed for reference.
How many miles on them? I just changed mine after 49k. Same year and trans started to feel like there was too much play on clutch engagement. Also on letting off the gas in 5th gear on highway I would feel the engine move. Rplaced mounts and put a dogbone insert in and feels better than it ever did.
APR stage 1 high torque DSG. Factory mounts still feel fine, I have no ambitions to make my GTI a “race car”. Probably replace with OE mounts when it is time.

It's easy to test them. Open the hood and have someone watch engine movement while you have it in gear with your foot on the brake and rev it to check how much engine movement there is.
