You have a good split, ride frequency wise, though my calculations do not take into account the CSS swivels. I'd just go up in rate to what ever the next rates you can get are.

Did you get the rear shocks revalved too?

Try 500/700 or 550/750.
Both front and rear were revalved, so I have headroom to go stiffer on the springs.

CSS swivels add a degree of camber. Not sure if that’s because the hole for the strut is offset moving the swivel further outboard, or just the angle at which the hole to receive the strut is different. Not likely to impact the MR by much.

What MR are you using for the front?

It's the relationship between A and B. Which is why it's different for every setup/wheel/spacer/hub design.

Racingline Oil Cooler install question?

Couple question:
1) Did you remove the front bumper to drill the holes? I managed to get the pilot holes drilled with the bumper on the car but the steel is hard as diamond.
2) Any issues with the supplied filter? Was it effective at filtering out contamination For those who sample their oil?

This is generally true, but not for the GTI.

Two things working against you.

1. Ohlins short shock stroke

2. Abysmal camber curve below the stock ride height.

In order to fix number 1 you have to shorten the shock body or run stiffer springs

In order to fix number 2 you have to run stiffer springs to reduce body roll.

Also, comparing rates and tires from anther car is useless unless we can compare ride frequency.

What is the stock ride height for our cars?

Second question is what static camber do you need to run counteract the crappy camber curve?

OK, so it took forever to dig up my old notes from when I measured some cars at my local Dealer. Remembering the looks on some faces while I was measuring up cars and taking notes made me smile. Going through Cliff’s build thread and David’s thread, I’ve compiled a FTG ride height list. I don’t think I ever measured my stock suspension because it wasn’t adjustable. Kinda sucks as it would be helpful now with David’s number crunching. I’ve never been fan of lowering cars because it screws up suspension geometry pronto and creates bump steer.

The ride heights in the links you sent, did not help me visualize. Don’t know where the measurement is being taken???
So I come back to FTG measurements which I understand.

So -3.5 front Camber appears to be the number most of us need to shoot for at stock ride height.

The question now is whether we can generate mechanical grip at the front by upping front spring rate vs. loosening the rear axle to get the car to rotate.
This is something I have been chasing on this car. Getting the front end to bite and TURN.

Larger front swaybar will make the car feel very responsive in quick left/right transitions, but spring rate would be better for long sustained cornering. Am I correct in my thinking…????
For Auto-X, I would say that roll is more of a factor then on track? Even with the lower speeds. Granted,with a shitty camber curve, it sucks for both auto-x & track.

Sways are for turning only, springs are there for both turning and brake/accel.

I'm still not sure how much spring vs front bar is the correct answer, but I do know that a majority of the body control has to come from the springs. There aren't large enough sways to make that big of a difference.

Wish Tarrett Engineering made one of there swaybars for the MQB platform. It is slide adjustable and is a great tool to fine tune overall car balance.

Shoot, I forgot to clarify that for wheel HZ purposes I use 0.72 MR.

That's why I ended up suggesting 800/1000 in/lb springs creating the 2.0/2.2Hz ride frequencies.

Decided to add some Verus Engineering Hood Louvres to help relieve the hot air in the engine bay.

Brake Cooling Ducts

Looking to use the R transmission cooling duct to feed my brake cooling backing plate. Will need to trim the lower fender liner a little.
Found some compact carbon brake duct funnels that will hopefully allow me to connect the flex hose to the backing plate in a tight space. These attach via pop rivets.
