I can’t comment on the rsr but the Ttrs clutch holds fine on my custom tuned is38 gti on 93. Working on an ethanol tune now and it seems to be holding just fine. It’s been installed for 30k + miles. This is with zero launches and highway pulls only.
If you’re not on a budget or plan to upgrade past is38 go with Sachs. If youre on a budget and don’t plan on going bigger than is38 ttrs/rsr should be fine for is38 power.

Doesn't state how much power it can handle. I'd spend a little more and get the Sachs SRE from EMD. Conservatively rated at 405ft/lbs. Better to spend a little more now then pay twice.
Stellar deal nowadays. Used to be able to get that kit under $400 from FCP till they discontinued it.

I have the Sachs performance kit with a TT plate. The disc is less aggressive than some other variants I’ve seen and the TOB is from a mk6 gti. The kit was rated at 420 iirc.
I haven’t dynoed my car but the tune I have is supposed to supply around 320whp/390tq. I haven’t felt the clutch slip yet but I don’t track the car.

I can't answer your spline question ...but if you are looking for the "best" clutch that maintains the OEM DMFW, consider the HS Tuning RSR Hybrid. It's not the cheapest option, and may be overkill for your needs, but as far as holding power I'd consider it the best.

Hello.. Looking to change my clutch as it was fried recently and now starting to slip in 5th / 6th when cold..

Based on many of the comments, I'm thinkin of getting the RSR Performance Clutch Kit as I want to keep it as close to stock (OEM+) feeling and sound (no chatter) as possible while being able to handle more power.

That being said.. I think I want to change out the flywheel at the same time as it probably has a bunch of burns from overheating..

Anyone recommend a flywheel that is similar to Stock or OEM+ feeling that will work in conjunction with the RSR Performance Clutch Kit?

Additionally, if I were to take my car to an independent shop.. are there any other parts I need to purchase in addition to the Clutch Kit & Flywheel?

Thanks in advance!

No, it's the Sachs SRE kit. I would say it's better than the original "TTRS" kit they sold. The kit they used to sell was a Sachs SRE pressure plate paired with a Euro TDI clutch, but some people had issues so I believe they removed it from their catalog, me being one of them. Also definitely recommend the billet iAbed RMS while you're replacing the clutch.

Does this kit retain the stock OEM+ feeling and noise?

Update to my story. I continued having engagement issues, especially when the car got to full temp and there was a high outdoor temperature. Or on extended trips in local and stop and go traffic. FCP did right by me and replaced the TOB for a Mk7 one. Installed it and had the same experience as you, it brought up the engagement point significantly higher and made it much lighter. All is right in the world now, this is how it should have been from the beginning!

Do you have a part number for the MK7 Throw Out Bearing? Is it LUK 0A5141671N (so same numbers with different letter?)

I am looking at this kit on FCP Euro.. and it looks like it still has the MK6 Throw Out Bearing (0A5141671S)?

Please advise.
Thanks!

the one in that kit and part number is the mk7 version - the rubber type material is like a spacers that's 3mm taller than the mk6 version

Are you sure? .. here are both types.. both have spacers..

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/vw-clutch-release-bearing-luk-0a5141671n - 0A5141671N

Just to clarify.. just trying to determine which one is the MK6 version and which one is the MK7 version as I am looking to have the same shift point as my current MK7 GTI. (After reading a number of messages, it seems that the consensus is that the MK6 version engages much lower).

Thank you.

both items you linked are the mk7 version, look at the fitment list.

The stroke for the mk6 and mk7 TOB didn’t change it’s was just the thickness in that top pad/spacer item.

The tob im running on my dkm twin is based on the mk6 to make up for the thicker flywheel/pp system.

Thanks for your response.. what's the difference between the two TOB's (the S version vs the N version)?
Is it basically Sachs vs Luk? Would that be the only difference?

Sorry for the elementary questions but honestly not sure..
Thanks again.

People still using 03G141031P for the disc? Mine got contaminated from brake fluid from a broken slave cylinder.

has anyone tried or knows if they tried the ringer racing ttrs or the sachs kits. looks alot like the rsr instead of kevlar, they use cerametallic .
https://www.ringer-racing.com/product.sc?productId=671&categoryId=1126
Yeah he’s got 3 different plate options depending on goals and preferred drivability. that one is most likely the same self adjusting plate which looks to be the ttrs plate.

His cerametallic (made to his specs by clutch masters) plate looks much more promising that the RSR hybrid to me though....

I’ll know soon as I ordered a stage 5 (not with the self adjusting plate) from him earlier today actually. Lol
