I ended up buying Motul Gear 300 oil. Is that good? Read good things about it. Also, what is “rear main seal to the billet iAbed”? Im going to have a shop do it for me. One is charging 400$ another 600$. No brainer going for the 400$ install
I'm currently running the Motul gear 300 75w90 fluid. It's a tad stiff in the middle of winter. But after a few minutes of engine and transmission warm up time it's fine.

I've also got the iAbed RMS installed. Great quality piece that does the job of keeping oil where it belongs 😎

As for the price of the install $600 is about average. I would rather spend a bit more for a VW expert vs a gas station garage that handles everything. If the cheaper one is a well reviewed VW shop then you should be good.

Currently heavily looking for the best DMF compatible clutch for my GTI after having gone stage 2.

I see a lot of posts about the factory 23 spline Sachs friction plate. My question is will the Sachs Racing Engineering pressure plate be compatible with the 23 spline sprung factory friction plate? ( Aka can I just use this pressure plate on a stock clutch?)

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/pressure-plate-sachs-performance-883082001422?

Sachs includes this pressure plate in a performance 400ft/lb clutch kit, but the friction plate they include has no splines, and is unsprung. I’m thinking I’d rather use this pressure plate over the TTRS.

(This May have been answered, but after reading 66 pages, it’s easy to miss!)

I can't answer your spline question ...but if you are looking for the "best" clutch that maintains the OEM DMFW, consider the HS Tuning RSR Hybrid. It's not the cheapest option, and may be overkill for your needs, but as far as holding power I'd consider it the best.

Thanks for the heads up! I have looked at that kit. Though I think it’s a bit too much for my application. I don’t plan on making more that 400ft/lb.

I ended up buying:
-LUK Dual Mass Flywheel
-Sachs Race Engineering (SRE) Pressure Plate
-And a Sachs OEM replacement organic clutch plate
-Sachs throwout bearing

So essentially the big question is if the SRE pressure plate works with OEM friction plates.

Next time I replace my clutch, I might suck out and filter as much trans fluid as possible...stuff is expensive!

Keep in mind the setup above is the SRE clutch, not TTRS. Get the throw out bearing and some OEM trans fluid from FCP as well. I also would swap the rear main seal to the billet iAbed version to future proof.

For peace of mind, you can get new bolts. Personally, I reused everything except trans mount bolts and dogbone/pendulum arm. Blue Loctite and make sure everything is torqued to spec.

This guide from ECS is handy if you're going to DIY, especially the bolt location template: http://bd8ba3c866c8cbc330ab-7b26c6f..._TSI_ECS_Stage_2_Clutch_&_Flywheel_Kit_r1.pdf

Which throw out bearing are you referring to on FCP’s site? They have several brands (LUK, Sachs, and VW OEM). I am doing my clutch install soon, and want to get the best TOB possible.

Whichever matches the existing one, personally I used the LUK 0A5141671N for my '18 GTI. They're all the same design.

Best? Clutch Masters throw out bearing, but it's quite expensive. Some people swore by the all-metal MK6 TOB, but myself and others have had engagement issues with the MK6 TOB so I wouldn't go that route personally.

Hi,

Last 2 years I used TTRS Clutch - I loved it.
But last time I went up with power ;).....and I reached TTRS clutch limit ;) like in books 380lb/ft - 510Nm.

I need clutch up to 430-440 lb/ft is there any other option - What next in your opinion ?
1. is it possible to buy only RSR Hybrid Clutch Disk?
2. RTS Clutch - Twin-Friction Clutch - anyone try it?

RSR Hybrid Clutch Kit HST-RSR-004 - I know there is this option but not so competitively priced.

If you don't mind going to a single mass flywheel the south bend stage 3 daily is pretty much the standard recommendation

I’ve considered going DKM twin disk, Sachs , and TTRS but I’m locked on the RSR (Non-hybrid) heard really good things about it. If you go on RSR website they have a chart on which clutch to go with depending on your power

I have the RSR Hybrid. Keeping the DMFW was important to me, and even though I'm still only running an IS20 I opted for the hybrid in case I ever add more power. If I knew for sure I'd stay at stage 2 levels (which I may), I probably would have gone with the regular RSR.

I've got a little over 10,000 miles on it now and just now starting to hear some light chatter at idle. Otherwise it's fantastic.

Doesn't state how much power it can handle. I'd spend a little more and get the Sachs SRE from EMD. Conservatively rated at 405ft/lbs. Better to spend a little more now then pay twice.
