Picked up my ‘18 SE in June for $21,995 with 38k miles fresh off the lease. Got $4,500 trade in for my old ‘14 passat (105k miles) and was able to secure 0% for 5 years. Added a warranty to 120k and i plan on using every damn mile of it!

Great deal! 2018 and 2019 I think are the sweetest spots for the Mk7/7.5. Biased, but I think Dark Iron Blue is the best also! She's a beauty.

Best price OTD price I've received is $26,294 for a 2020 S DSG
Sale price $24,679
Tax - $765.84
Doc fee - $699
Tag / title - $150

I was trying to hold out for a nice Sport or Rabbit, but I think I'm going to settle for a new S.

I'm in NC. I'm pretty sure tags and title are around $110 here too. Living in here finally pays off, lol

Geez, that doc fee is highway robbery.

Turns out NC has a special sales tax for car purchases: https://www.caranddriver.com/research/a32812822/nc-car-sales-tax/
but they make up for it by charging a personal property tax on the car every year.

I’ve always paid close to 7% sales tax in NC on everything whenever I’ve visited in the past few years.

You pay normal sales tax on cars and the bullshit excise tax on top of that in MA.

I am not anti tax, but the excise tax is super bs. Raise gas tax and raise tolls not tax people on the value of their car....

Mike, Aim for 15-16% off MSRP right now. Should be completely doable. Check sunnyvale vw, heard they are volume dealer and push cars out like crazy. Should be able to get 15% w/o much effort.

I was just quote $28,846 for a GTI SE w DSG here in SoCal, and a few others offered $30,095. Basically 14-16%

Hey, I am new here. Registered since I'm looking to be a future GTI owner. Which dealership gave you the $28,846 deal? I've started negotiating and the best I got was $29,145 or +$1,500 if I used outside financing for a 2020 GTI SE DSG.

Take that deal, when I dug further into the 28,800 deal it was with cash. If I use VW financing the price went up. If you can get $29,145 with 0% take that. My OTD price ended up being exactly $33k for GTI SE DSG

Seconded -- that's a hell of a deal for a brand new SE, even if it was a cash purchase. I was never able to find new OTD for less than $31k.

I'll try, only this dealer out of the 7 I contacted was able to go sub 30K but I highly doubt I can get it OTD for $33K with SoCal taxes.

This is without any additional qualifying discounts since I am not a military/first responder or a recent college graduate.
