Congratulation!!! AWD4416 it is an excellent work (y). I am doing something similar but i just want the basic functions (Low, High, DLR and turn lights). Nowadays only is working the Low lights :(. If the headlight has just 7 pines, how do you connected 9? (14 pin connector table). Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply.

Looks like you have the VW LED lights. The short answer is that you can't just remove the halogens and plug in the LEDs. The LED lights are controlled by the CAN high bus. Internally they are wired to make the low beam work even if the CAN bus is unavailable. If you do use a 14 to 10 pin convertor without doing any modification, most if not all the wires will be wrong. The halogen use 9 pins because they are dumb lights, literally the wires are directly connected to the light bulbs in the housing and are controlled by the BCM. The LED lights have 7 pins but they are not directly wired to the actual light inside. Most of the pins supply power to the modules on the lights and the CAN connections talk to the 4B module that control the lights.

Hopefully this helps.

Hi,

You need to tell us the part no. of your LED headlight. Actually, you do not need additional guide because AWD4416 guide is the best detailed guides I ever use in retrofit. Also, please provide more information of what you had purchased, done etc.

Hello, many thx. I will change windshield for heated one, so next will be camera and than DLA lights ... 081/082 used, than sell static lights ... control units on lights are differrent, main headlight LED unit think same ... So when time come, I will ask for help here, many thx!
One thing about PLA, rear and front side sensor brackets are both with "ring" ? Allexpress sets are one with and one without... Thx for info ...Daniel

Buy the one with the ring because it is the seal for dirt and water to seep behind bumper.

  • There are 3 versions of the LED lights, 8IT, 8IU, 8IX (US version with amber reflector are based on this model)
  • Only the 8IU is capable of full dynamic light assist (dual beams that dynamically adjust

Could you let me know how to tell the difference between these different versions when looking at them?

In the process of gething info for this retrofit, I found the following website that had the information you are looking for.

https://www.ilcats.ru/vw/?function=...LF&modelcode=827&group=9&pid=3181&language=en

on you browser look for PR-8IT (basic) or PR-8IU (dynamic light assist) on the site. The part numbers for the NA headlights are already listed on the guide.

Thanks for your help, I have the 8IX ones by the look of it fitted to my car, was trying to weigh up the cost of upgrading to the 8IU ones.

If anyone is interested here are the part numbers for the whole set for the Euro ones, my ETKA doesn't support US I'm afraid!

It's really not worth the effort and cost of doing from 8IX to 8IU. Unless you are doing from halogen (like me) to LED, I did to the highest spec.
Save the money for new IQ lights, it is great! No more shutter, just individual LED module.

Someone is selling some Golf R headlights here, how do I know which versions they are? They're the US versions so the the link above doesn't have them. Cheers.

If they are North America Golf R headlights, its going to be 8IX (US version with amber reflector).

8IX/8IU are all PR codes, should be in the service manual of the car if that helps.

Cheers, that answers my question. What are "PR Codes" though?
