JB4 Logging, stacking and Map 6 Discussion

Hey all,

I ended up buying a harness for the AFR wire so I can full take advantage of the jb4. Can someone take a look at my map1 and map2 logs and help me build a map6?
2019 GTI DSG
I'm running on 91 octane in California. All stock except the stock air box mod and TCR muffler.

map1: https://datazap.me/u/yungaxel3/3rd-gear-pull?log=0&data=1-3-4-6-11-14-18
map2: https://datazap.me/u/yungaxel3/3rd-gear-pull?log=1&data=1-4-6-11-14-18

Thanks!
I'll admit I'm a noob, but something looks a bit off to me. Map 1 is supposed to be +4 and Map 2 is +5, yours is reading +2-3. AFR looks high for a 19. What firmware are you running? Hopefully one of the experts will chime in here.

The "throttle" will almost always be at 100 when the car is trying to build boost to meet a value. But the value will vary based on the pedal position. Put the pedal down to request all the power.

Thanks all. I had no idea I wasn't shoving hard enough. Just updated to the latest firmware and gonna do a few runs later today

I noticed the pedal, guess the throttle being wide open threw me off. But going easy on the gas does explain the low boost and high afr.

When you don't put the pedal down all the way, the car doesn't switch to the "FULL LOAD" fueling maps. It basically stays in the fueling map used for fuel economy and good emissions.

So all the maps will pretty much respond the same outside of WOT?

Umm.. no. It's a little complicated. Here is what you're dealing with.

(((ECU TIMING VALUES) + (ECU FUELING VALUES) + (ECU TORQUE REQ VALUE or "Boost")) + (JB4 Additive Boost Value)) - (ECU CORRECTONS) = FINAL PRODUCT

The ECU has multiple fueling tables. One of them is the table that's generally used when the car is not at 100% throttle. That table is generally going to command 14.7:1 AFRs for best fuel economy and lowest emissions. Because you didn't put the pedal all the way down, the car didn't use the richer WOT throttle map for fueling.

Looks ok, the 85 firmware is the first under 60 VAG gen 3 in this link. There is also a new 88 firmware that is supposed to fix the ecu_psi issue.

After some driving with the 6b firmware I noticed that part throttle can be a little rough.
Upgraded to the 8_6_T3 firmware which after some quick testing seems to be alot better.

Did a few pulls (after some stop and go traffic so it was pretty heatsoaked): https://datazap.me/u/callekl/jb4-86...-4-5-6-11-14-18-19-25-26-27-28-29&zoom=89-281
About 9L of E85 mixed with 98RON.

Seems to hit the boost targets from what I can see and no ingition pull.

Just got a new map6 table from george. I am running 17 dsg, 93 oct. 2 gallons e85. The car feels extremely strong and smooth, even in 88 degre weather.

Try the below settings in your map 6 boost chart and see how it feels. Select map 6 to use and log it.

Let me know what you think. 3rd gear felt like a rocket taking off!

I'm sure he changed your fuel setting as well or your trims would look worse. I'd say you could run more boost but I doubt you want ign1 much lower so it's good. I wouldn't recommend anyone use these without working their way up and adjusting other settings if required.

The short version is that it looks good on your car.

@goodvibes
Keep in mind the 2.0 ECUs run lower timing than the 1.8s. The higher trims are likely because of the E85, but I wouldn't worry about it.

@echelonphoto
I would try targeting +6 at 6000 if you're going to continue using this ethanol mix.
