Full Product Details

The APR Catback Exhaust System personalizes your vehicle’s looks, sound and performance. Beautifully hand-crafted T304-stainless-steel components adorn the system with stunning TIG-welding throughout. Our straight-through brushed-finished stainless-steel piping give the exhaust note an aggressive growl without any restrictions, while our Helmholtz resonator reduces unwanted frequencies. Strong high-quality bracketry and OEM-style clamps hold the system steadily in place, making the install or removal a snap, and fitment simple, yet precise. A cast 3” to quad 2.5” rear splitter creates an ultra-smooth transition, steadily feeding exhaust gasses out of the system, while looking tidy from under the rear bumper. Lastly removable 4" polished slash-cut exhaust tips finish the system, adding a classy motorsport-inspired touch to the rear of the vehicle.

For the more track minded enthusiasts where weight, sound and price point all are highly desired metrics, the APR Valveless system is the desired configuration. In this configuration the axle back portion of the exhaust has the mufflers and valves removed. Weight drops considerably and the system becomes more aggressive. With the factory DP in place, the system is louder and more aggressive, but thanks to the center Helmholtz chamber, drone is reduced, giving a more pleasant, yet aggressive driving experience. However, when upgrading to the APR Race DP, the system transforms and becomes unapologetically raw with maximum aggression – A true track enthusiast’s dream.

I'm pretty sure it's a helmholtz resonator. Which alot of manufacturers use to kill those annoying frequencies aka drone.

It is. Was just a little joke, if you don’t get the reference don’t worry about it :).

Wasn't sure, and I wasn't trying to crap on APR's thread. After all, as of late they're doing much better then their past missteps

All in good fun. I had apr products on my R and will in all likelihood have apr products on my next one.

It's nice but very expensive!
I was thinking the same thing. Was really hoping it would come in around the $1100-1200 range which would undercut the AWE valveless system by a good margin and almost make it a no brainer for me.

Agree, the APR is definitely a quality build, much nicer then the likes of Magnaflow, CTS or Invidia, but at almost $400 more then those, it's hard for me to justify the cost. The APR GTI single exhaust is $999, so why so much more for a different resonator and two extra tips?

Don't get me wrong, I'm still considering it :p, but I think a price point of about 10% lower, $1259 - $1299 would be a winner.

When we first were planning to offer a valve less system, it was going to be no valves, and no center helmholtz resonator. Just rear mufflers. Drone was unbearable. Reading online reviews from other systems that mimic this rear suitcase / rear muffler design only, they seem to state the same: too much drone. Just something to consider.

Sales volume to recoup r&d costs is my assumption. Vw sells significantly more gtis per year than they’ve sold Rs the entire production run for this generation (atleast in the us). I’d assume more GTIs get modded than Rs as well. Meaning the market for gti exhausts is significantly larger, enabling lower price points.
