I had own numerous powerful cars from European & American Muscle Cars, which had been used as a daily driver and some of them at local SOLO 1 driving events.
After owning a 2013 VW GTI Autobahn Carbon Steel Gray Metallic with Unitronic stage 1+ for almost 4 years, I decided for a more powerful VW and in November 2016, I traded my 2013 VW GTI for a 2017 VW Golf R DSG Lapiz Blue, after reading so many great reviews. Yes, I wanted MORE POWER!

Prior to complete engine break in (appx 900 miles) - late November 2016, went to my local authorized tuner EuroHouse for United Motorsports ecu/DSG maps and CTS downpipe/exhaust/intercooler installation. Uff, great improvement in terms of increased horsepower/torque, engine response and improved fuel economy. I did really enjoy Golf R with upgrades, but it was time to really see how car will perform in a half mile event.
On March 2017, I did participate with my 2017 Golf R on a local PR Half Mile event, reaching max speed at 140.62mph (just with the above upgrades)

Then in July 2017 went to another Half Mile event, Golf R got ready prior to the event, but I requested more aggressive new ecu map which was installed with E85 fuel. On my first pass(early in am) we had a GTR with basic Alpha upgrade. The Golf R did pull very hard on the up to the 1/4 and was ahead by the front fender when all of the sudden stock turbo blow up, that was the end of the race and event. Had to transport the Golf R on a bed truck back home.

I did contact Felix owner from EuroHouse to check my Golf R engine for possible internal damages, car was sent in late August 2017, but then hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico on September 2017. By early November 2017, engine was completely disassemble and no internal engine damage was found, yes the turbine wheel with shaft was found in the rear muffler!!!, OEM turbo was exceeding boost/spinning(yes I know OEM shaft is thin).
blown turbine wheel
Now that the engine was torn apart, I requested to built a high performance Golf R engine with best parts available in the market and the plans took longer than expected, due to parts availability. Engine build started by late February 2018, but we had to wait until Dodson clutch arrived on May 2017. By, June 2018 Golf R was already running, but fine tuning/maps were being tested.
Golf R upgrades:
Iroz Motorsports MQB IMS 710 turbo kit; United Motorsports ecu/DSG tune/maps; Dodson Clutch; Mahle pistons; IE Tuscan connecting rods; ARP bolts/head studs ; Black Forest engine mounts; E85 fuel; Secondary fuel rail & EuroHouse technical/mechanical services.
