I would not have bought a Pure White car, but this shade really caught my eye on the showroom floor. I like that it looks white in some lights and gray in others. It really looks silver next to a white car and white next to a silver car.
Here are some shots in the shade that make it look a little more gray.

Upon request to add to this thread: I was about to hunker down and wait for the MK7.5 Golf R but decided I'd rather have a GTI. So here's my week old 2018 GTI Autobahn DSG in White Silver (looks less blue IRL) with silver 17x8 Neuspeed RSe16 shod with Goodyear Eagle Sport all seasons in 245/45-17 95W. I ordered the factory center caps (VW part #: 3B7 601 171) and used OEM lug bolts and lug caps. Selling the OEM 18" Dallas wheels with tires (296 miles, pristine) if anyone in the Charlotte area is interested ($1,000 for wheels and tires). I am diggin' this car a lot. I had a MK5 GTI (2008) with DSG, and this car is a much nicer ride in every way. It's too early to tell, but it might rival my 2004 BMW 330i ZHP for favorite car honors. MSRP was $37,440, and I paid $34,000. If I'd bought an R, it would have cost $8,000 more. And this was $12,000 less than my ZHP. Not bad VW, not bad at all.

Love the color and this is from someone with a black GTI also the wheels are looking good, I'm not a fan of the MK7 and 7.5 wheels. I also have the same wheels on my GTI. Enjoy the new GTI, I know you will.

white cars are a non-starter for me, but I saw this color in person yesterday and thought it looked great

I have a pure white one but damn if this white silver metallic isn't gorgeous. It reminds me of my 2013 STi with the metallic white.

Damn what a great color.

If VW had this last year for the GTI I probably would have picked it over the CSG. Pure White was ok, but it looked too flat. I told the dealer I wished they had made it more pearlescent or metallic and lo and behold they did. Darn.

Thought it looked very interesting under a street light.

Got lowered on VWR springs. One more week until summer wheels go on!

Surprised no one had commented on that sweet Comanche. Holy cow that looks immaculate. And that color!

Aww thanks. I've since repainted the fender flares and wet sanded the tail lights, so it's looking a little better. There are only a handful of original parts left and I'm continually improving it.
