JB1 6MT Clutch Update "Poll"

Golf R here so I don't know if you care about me or not. I added the JB1 only (hardware stock) on the stock +4.8 map. I started slipping after about a month of use. I didn't really abuse the car. I'm 45 and am not clutch dumper, etc. But rolling into the throttle in 5th and 6th slips the clutch. I moved to map 6 and the clutch no longer slips. Then, I took the JB1 out for the 10k mile service (so the dealer wouldn't see it) and I honestly can't tell the difference between stock and Map 6. I may just leave it stock and use my stock clutch as long as possible.

BUMP ....it'll be interesting to see the data as the temps start to get colder

'16 R with APR Stage 1 - approaching 15k miles, Swapped to RSR clutch at ~7k miles.
Slipping when trying hard acceleration in 5th/6th at <3k rpms, otherwise no issues.

Edit: Crap, this is a JB1 poll... I didn't vote, but you can probably ignore my anecdote :D

How do you like the RSR clutch? Was it an expensive swap?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to do the same thing at some point.

~$1700 OTD at HS Tuning (they sell the kit, and I live close enough to them).

BUMP...I know there must be many many more JB1 users out there. The more data the better!

Nah he's not JB1, I think he is just giving his experience on the clutch itself.

Well, my clutch started slipping 4th, 5th and 6th. Mods in my signature. Turned boost down in map 6, it helped but getting south bend stage 3 daily.

MAP 6 - 93 octane
Full throttle acceleration in 2nd through 5th I have experienced what appears to be clutch slip, 500-1000 RPM rise with slight acceleration loss, then settles in. Does not do it every time.

I recently set the JB1 to MAP 0 for stock testing. I did experience similar "slipping" but it was in 2nd gear a little over 2000 RPM.

I changed my MAP 6 settings to basically tune the slip out and it is better, but still a bit of slip on occasion. Not expecting to get my usual 200,000+ miles out of the clutch, just hoping it will last a while though. I generally do not drive it hard, and do not down shift when coming to a stop, I just put it in neutral and use the brakes to slow the car. I did have a MAJOR slip a week or so ago using a more aggressive MAP 6 than my current settings below. But it was a hard acceleration 1st to 2nd shift with traction control off (won't do that again). Chutch seems the same afterwards so not much damage was done.

Current MAP 6 settings:

RPM BOOST
1500 0.0
2000 0.5
2500 1.0
3000 1.5
3500 2.0
4000 3.0
4500 4.0
5000 5.0
5500 5.0
6000 4.5
6500 4.0
7000 3.5

Please post your opinion on chatter when you get it installed. I really want to go with this clutch when it's time to upgrade and just want more opinions :)

great thread, just stumbled across this. i have a 2015 manual S with currently 31,000 miles. All stock except a new drop in filter and the JB1. tuned for about 4-5000 miles now. Running map 6 with this tune on it:

1500 0
2000 1.0
2500 2.0
3000 3.6
3500 4.0
4000 4.4
4500 4.4
5000 5.0
5500 5.0
6000 5.0
6500 4.0
7000 3.0

Definitely a tune with clutch longevity in mind. No sign of slip yet.
