Infotainment / Control unit issues

Hello all :)

So from day one the infotainment system in my car would not pick up DAB and two trips to the VW garage in Leicester managed to fix this with a new control unit....... But created two new issues...

1. The engine mode button had to be reprogrammed after having car handed back to, I spent 2hrs waiting while they sorted this while they scratched their heads! This works fine now.

2. The stereo will not go into phone mode nor will the Bluetooth work... It's like it isn't fitted! It's had another control unit fitted today but still the issue exists. The part number changed twice is V5G0 035 820 A. The garage have had to send a request to the VW head office for advice what to do but as of yet I've not heard anything. Any ideas??

To make it more frustrating the customer service there stinks!

As you know, all this should work without a hitch. Do not be put off with crap service. When I had problems with a spectacularly useless garage, VW Customer Service simply said take it to another garage. Ask around in your area about which garages have the best electrician.
Try another garage? Listers in Nuneaton?

Oh lord, i had the same problem with my brand new mk7 gti. Once i took delivery, the camera was glitchy and would only work sometimes. Took it to the service center, they replaced the camera. Still didn't work. They then replaced the control unit. This fixed the camera but my bluetooth mode and MDI ipod stopped working completely. They kept the car for 3 weeks and finally figured out that they messed up the Coding as each car has a unique code.

As this was in Dubai, they contacted VW middle east who sent in a specialist to do the coding. As long as you get the correct code for your car, you should be fine.

A month later i got my car back with everything working.

Give this a try, the code that was entered the first time into my car, was the code for a lower spec model as our cars come pre-specced. The correct code is key to make sure all your options work.

Good luck

MukulJuriagtimk7 Thats exactly the message i see on the screen now. I'm due a call back today at some point so will see what they say about the coding.

dickt - I contacted VW UK yesterday via twitter to complain and they are looking into the service issues and how to resolve the issues with the unit now. Just booked my Caddy in for a service at Loughborough and persuaded the rest of my family not to use Leicester 2x Polo's, 1 Golf and a Passat CC.
