GTD 185PS Manual - DTUK CRD-T+ Tuning Box (Rail & Boost Pressure Sensors)-Settings

Hello all,

I've just purchased a pre-reg manual GTD and a DTUK Tuning Box. I would like to know if anyone knows what all the various power 1,2,3 and + and - settings represent in terms of PS and Torque. I know the literature basically states every car is different and test them all BUT I'd like a simple answer to what the variations effect. So what does power setting 1,2,and 3 represent and then what do the + and - options then change? Does anyone out there know? I can only seem to get 1+1 and 2+1 are good settings BUT don't know what they mean in terms of PS and TORQUE and what the representative map looks like? Anyone any ideas as a search of Google doesn't give me anything? Thanks Steve

Hi Waggers, I have just purchased the Crd-t+ for my GTD after much research, I have not installed it yet but have a little bit of info that might help. Basically the three pre programmed maps are very similar and all produce around 235-240hp the +1,2and three relate to boost presure again these are slight increases for each + that is selected! you should find that your turbo should kick in around 1800rpm and torque is very much increased some say around 500. I was reading that map 3+2 gave the most wow factor and was equivalent to the old crd-t map 4+1. 1+1 I have been told gives a balance of smoothness and better mpg. Keep this thread going with your findings. I will have mine installed when the weather brightens up and then we can compare notes.

Thanks guys for updates....

Interesting I have a similar car...(Pure White, 19", Sport and Sound Pack, Leather, Sat Nav) and tuning box..so have spoken with DTUK again and will try the 1+1 and 2+1 as good options. DTUK rolling road map was done on 1+1 settings. I'll run for a few hundred miles first as standard (picked her up 22/1/15). I have purchased the VW OEM GTI rear valence already as I want to fit the Milltek twin pipe exhaust BUT it would seem I'll be the first.."the exhaust virgin" ...for re-fitting the sound actuator from OEM onto the Milltek system! No-one seems to know much about the active system on the GTD...basically it drops the rear box and add the sound actuator. Sounds nice but I'll probably buy a Kufatec Sound Booster like I had on the BiTDI in the future to give me a few sound options beyond standard Milltek. I'll let you know as I progress....

Wow sounds like you have some big things planned for the GTD, I would definitely be interested in following your progress. If you get the time why not start a members journal I'm sure plenty of people would be interested in following what your doing.

I just bought the PedalBox too from DTUK - going to have a play with that some time over the next couple of weeks....I'm just waiting to get a few miles on my car first in standard form...and still struggling on the exhaust re-wokr. I thought I had a solution with the ABT system but they can't give me any diagrams so I can see how it fits with the sound actuator.

I fitted my dtuk crd-t+ box this morning with the current mileage at 1100, obviously I was very keen to take it for a test drive to see if I could notice any difference at all. Firstly I should say that fitting one of the boxes to a GTD is very straight forward and all connections are very accessible and it's very easy to route the cables, just be careful to not snag anything when replacing the engine cover, but I guess that goes without saying. Well I started the box on setting 1.1 as this is supposed to be the best for smooth delivery and running. Well firstly I thought it was going to be impossible to improve an already great car but how wrong was I. There is some slight extra shove from gears 2 and 3 but things start to get very impressive from then on in. It just keeps giving 4th was over in a flash and 5th just wanted to grab the baton from 4th and set off like a steam train, the power delivery is very smooth and easily controllable, the engine is fine when idling and the temperature runs normally, I have no idea what will happen when I try these other programs but I am pretty impressed as it goes on this one. I will live with the 1.1 setting for a few weeks then try other programs for comparison. I will expand a little bit more in my journal in the the next couple of weeks.

Awesome! well funny enough I fitted the Pedal Box this morning too. Easy fit by pulling out the lower drivers side glove box, identify the connector at the very top of the pedal assembly with 'red' clip, slide up the clip and slide off the connector. Install connector from Pedal Box loom and then original connector to the loom, add in a plastic tie to hold things in place, and then loop the Pedal Box controller over existing cable loom and up into the glove box. Turn on ignition and set to 1+1, fire it up to make sure all works, then add velcro tabs to hold the controller in place and re-fit the glove box, job done...now go play! all sits perfectly in the lower small glove box to the right of the driver with quick access to change settings it required! P1 - Sport - increases throttle response initially by 16%; P2 - Sport Plus - quick start, rapid acceleration or overtaking; P3 - City Mode - low speed torque in traffic - all have +1,2,3 to increase the response of the accelerator...so I'll be testing P1 to start with as this sounds like the most obvious choice too...I'd pop up a couple of images too...

Images would be great thanks. I thought all tuning boxes, connected under the bonnet?

Or is this simply an addition to control throttle only?

Rappy

Insurance for me including hire car, motor legal protection and NCB protect is just under £300 per year (I'm 50 next week :) ). I have insured with LV via online compare sites previously and declared ECU re-maps on cars without issue or premium hike. The Pedal Box just changes the accelerator response and it's not adding any power to standard. It just tweeks how it responds more quickly to the accelerator and removing lag for overtaking etc.

iv'e got the dtuk box on my GTD and its been on for over 6months - currently running map 4 +1.. (it came with map4) well it's really smooth ( and does struggle for grip in 1st,2nd, and sometimes 3rd if your not careful with the right foot.. so far so good.. just really goes extremely quickly.. ave. approx 50-55 mpg normally :)... all good
