Hi all
Looking forward to collecting my Golf Mk7 1.4 SE in Metallic Pacific Blue, which has a build date of week 29 (22nd July 2013). I am told it should be available early September on a 63 plate. I was just wondering if anyone knows of a pdf version of the owners manual is available out-there to try and get an head-start learning all the new tech. My current car is a 2001 MG ZR which is very basic in comparison.

VW Customer Services say there isn't one available.

I do remember somebody that was bored used their I-phone to photograph & post pics online but it was removed because of copyright laws.

I'm not 'bored' & the handbook is pretty thick.

My dealer gave me a copy from a showroom car until my car was delivered.

Thanks for the reply.
I will call in to my dealer and see if they can loan me a spare copy.

I so wish Volkswagen would make their car manuals available to owners as properly produced PDF files. These would be ideal for use on laptops and especially tablets (iPad etc.) and so easy to use as PDFs can be searched, bookmarked etc.

A search facility would be so useful and let's face it VW's manuals aren't noted for the quality of their indexing etc.

If you pay a couple of hundred quid for an electronic device, you can download a top quality PDF manual, yet when you pay £20-30k for a Volkswagen Golf there's nothing but a fairly poor paper manual which hasn't changed much since those of the Seventies.

Come on VW, we're in the second decade of the 21st century, wise up!

That would be useful - I'd much prefer to be able to view the manual on my iPad where I have the manuals for all of my other toys.

As much as I'd love a PDF copy of the manual, I'd be a bit wary about sharing it publicly on an open Internet forum. I don't think VW would be best pleased, what with copyright etc. ;)

I know other forums removed links to the copy mentioned above for just that reason.

I wouldn't mind the time spent scanning it all, the problem I have is getting the 80-100MB file from the workstation to my home PC, with all IT restrictions and firewalls this is a mission impossible and I am not Nathan Hunt...

I don't see a problem in sharing a copy of a document (manual in this case) I legally own. Would you see this as some sort of piracy?
What VW will think about that I don't give a s@#t:D. Their manual is a mess anyway...

That is exactly my point - a company like Volkswagen ought to be providing top quality multi-lingual PDF manuals by now. A premium product should have a premium manual, whereas manuals have always been a weak point of the VAG brand portfolio.

I believe Škoda offer PDF manuals for their cars, so why not Volkswagen?

We should all contact VW (website/facebook/twitter) and ask them to provide pdf manuals. If enough people nag about it, they might just do something.

They must be able to do this as they will have been created in something like InDesign in order to be printed.

It's not rocket science for them to create a pdf from that electronic file.
