it's nice to see reviews coming out! but still I can't wait to watch rather than read a review
There's a mistake up there saying the performance package will have 17-inches front brakes I don't think that's possible

Nice review
"17-inches front brakes" means that 17-inches front wheels are the smallest you can put on it while still clear the calipers.

Glowing review. I wish I was still stationed in England so I could get my hands on one earlier.

Man I cant wait to get my GTI, ESP and ABS kicking in more aggressively is a bummer. I hope that got fixed from "zero series" to production. But oh well, I think i can live with it even like that.

and that rear shot is AMAZING

It usually does, but in Euro-VW speak, it refers to the minimum wheel size needed to clear the brakes.

I paged through this magazine in Barnes & Nobel.

I've got to say, that now that I'm seeing real world images of the car out in the wild - it's looking better and better.

I still remain skeptical of the EU vs. NA applications.

No doubt that its a nice car and certainly a better upgrade, but actually SEEING the differences that the Germany and Mexico engine assembly plants are doing, I just think NA might get shafted with engine features.

Cyl head and exh manifold are now a single piece.

We may be looking at custom exhaust outlet porting work for big turbo kits. Barring that, "big" turbos would be limited by stock outlet sizing.

In general, this integration leads to betterthermal control for more power and efficiency.

In general, this whole integrated manifold thing means: unlike what I've been planning for; I'm gunna keep the stock turbo forever .
It would cost a hell lot of money to port the manifold. I guess it's a kind of money that I would rather save it up to get MK8 GTI later on

I am sufficiently disappointed in US Mk7 GTI engine spec rumors (and performance pack "sometime in the lifecycle") that I am no longer anxiously anticipating this car.

My new obsession is the MQB 2015 A3 (Make mine 2.0T, Quattro, DSG) coming to US mid-year 2014. (Produced out of Gyor, Hungary. This plant also makes the fully featured Gen 3 EA888, so I'm hopeful US will receive the same EU 217-227hp/258tq engine spec complete with MPI and VVT)

the tsi lately doesnt really need a port job. i wouldnt worry about that. and the manifold may not be that bad. we will have to wait and see
