What does having this spacer do exactly in terms of CEL and tune?

For some running after market downpipes it gives CEL free operation of the rear o2 sensor.

O2 Spacers drastically reduce the chance of the CEL coming on when you put on an aftermarket downpipe on without tuning the ecu. I put a spacer on when I put my CTS downpipe on and it ran a CEL a couple of times, after putting on my magnaflow catback about a week after I did the downpipe it no longer comes on. O2 sensor is really sensitive, and will pick up on the additional emissions created by a larger downpipe. I would recommend putting a spacer on if you do not plan on tuning shortly after.
