I've had my GTI for 3 months now and have yet to really get a race in which I knew for sure we were both mashing on it... until yesterday. Thus I'm pretty excited for my first race and win.

I was pulling onto an almost empty toll road with a newer (pretty nice looking and sounding) red WRX. Not sure what it had, but it sounded really nice. I didn't get on the toll road fast, and immediately moved all the way to the fast lane and kept it at 50mph. He moved next to me and stuck his hand in the air and counted to 3 with his fingers. We both mashed on it. About 2 seconds of side by side, then at about 110mph i let off with him WAY in my rear view mirror.

I then had to get over to exit and he pulled up next to me nicely and we both gave thumbs up to each other.

It was nice to see that my car is indeed fairly quick, especially on a roll.

Poor Subies. They seem to be the most frequently beaten cars on this forum. Congrats on your first kill in the GTI.

Subies won't hang with your tune. Seems like a cool moment with the thumbs up after the race. Don't always expect that.

Played with one on the highway the other day. Had Cali plates on it which you don't see a lot of around here. No match.

A few months ago a Corolla S with Cali plates tried to mess with me too. That was funny. Not sure what's up with the Cali drivers when they get out here in the middle of nowhere. Maybe they like my BMS tips....

Thats how we cali drivers roll. Its a rat race on my commute where the speed limit is 65mph but 80 is normal and 90 is to be commonly expected. You can have your veritable pick of cars to race— from prius, to bmw, to minivans to pos ford escorts. Not sure if they will be aware that you are racing however.

I've had quite a few encounters with WRXs and STIs. I've never had a problem with them.
I know one STI at least had a tune and catback. It was the hatchback style. It looked nice and sounded pretty good, but I still pulled on him with just a Stage 1 APR and intake.

It'll get ugly quickly for the Subi's once I install the IS38, DP and IC this spring.

Subarus are not fast and they never will be, I own one currently.

Go find some Evos to kill, don't even waste your time with Subaru.

Perfect use of meme sir.

Seriously though, I was planning out my mods and then realized no matter what I did it would not be as fast as my MK7 was when it was FBO. So I'm sticking with Turboback, TMIC, pump gas tune, and some mounts this summer.

I am doing some bodywork to fit bigger tires or wider wheels when aired out, then mostly cosmetic stuff. It will be slow but it will look good.

The Subaru has already lasted longer time wise than my GTI. #RIPCylinder3
