im missing 1 wire, i read in your post that i need a wire from pin 2 on the headlight switch to pin 16 on the bcm. isnt this the wire i need?

Not sure, I know that auto wiper worked without coding.
Plastic is for protection, you remove it before installing. Make sure not to touch with fingers the gel pad that sticks to glass.
