Getting faster times with DCC in Comfort than Sport. I've run 5 or 6 weekends of events and folks recommending a RSB. I also track the car so need some advice on what bar will be best.

Hi everyone! My name is Elias. I just joined the forum from a referral of another VW autocrosser (Todd) with a 16' GTI PP. I usually run with NNJR SCCA in B Street. My car is a 2016 VW Golf R with 24mm Superpro RSB and 034 motorsports rear end links. My wheel and tire setup are Neuspeed RSE10 18x8 with (now shot) Bridgestone RE71R.

Here are a few videos of my run during the year. While competitive I haven't won my class (in SCCA but have won my class twice in NJBMWCCA) yet this year as competition is very tight with 2 Lan Evo X, a 99 Corvette FRC (that used to be owned by a nationals driver), and now 2 Focus RS.

Sweet spot with the R

Now I have a few questions. Up until now I have been autocrossing on 225/40/18. Kept having the issue that the sidewalls get rounded off as well as borderline rolling the sidewall depending on the event. I keep debating with either getting 235 or 245 with my current setup which size would you recommend? Additionally has anyone found the sweet spot in terms of tire pressure? Turn in and rotation is great with the RSB but sometimes it washes out wide on corner exit. Looking for a little more grip on corner exit. Or would this be more with alignment setting than tire pressures?

Just did my first Autocross with my '17 Golf R on 11/5. The car is a DSG (daily driver). Amazingly enough I forgot to turn the traction control off...fml. I'm on stock ContiContacts. I ran B Street. B Street is a tough class to be in, but any class as you're still learning the car is fine. Even though SM and SMII can have some monster cars in them, it seems its not a bad class to run in, with a tune (added boost), here in Houston, and stay competitive. I was talking to an older couple who avidly AutoX their '16 R 6MT. They said once they went to stickier tires their clutch died...twice. So there is that. They also said they picked up 4 seconds going from the stock Contis to Bridgestone RE71s (number?)...whichever ones are stickier than the RE11s. I was 2 seconds off their time, and that seemed to just blow their mind....especially since I was on stock tires, DSG, and traction control still on.

I am really impressed with how un-intrusive traction control was, the car slid, rotated through turns...it was super fun. My brother drove the car as well, and has placed numerous times in SMII, & SSM a couple years back, and he was only 5 hundredths of a second faster than me.

I'm full stage 2 with MK7 R and been autox ing for a year almost. I'm running BSP (talk about tough) but I'm motivated by narrowing the margin between me and the class leader each time. It was 6 sec and now it's down to 4. I'm excited when I read that 4 secs were gained (1 min course?) Because maybe I have a chance!... we'll see. The car is fast but can't find the grip I need. Pulled an 11.9 quarter mile in this RRRrocket! Cars I'm chasing are the Nissan 350s etc. Highly modified too and sticky treads.

Will update you guys on this next chapter. I got Neuspeeds wheels (15lb) and RE-71s!

Well BSP is a R-Comp class, so if you are not even running RE-71Rs I'd say that's a huge chunk of your time if the class winner is on Hoosiers...
