Winter tires/rims

Hi there I got some 16 inch sline replicas with winters on my mk7. But rims are off the mk6 is it safe to do it or not? Once I installed them the car made wearing kind of noise coming out of the back sounded like springs or something no idea but it went away in like a week
Any help would be much appreciated

If you have a PP GTI they won't fit. If you have a non PP (like I do) they are fine. I'm running 215/55/R16 on my non PP GTI.

Saw a non PP mk7 GTI sitting on the dealer lot with 16" steelies last week. The caliper and wheel clearance is pretty much non existent!

VW does make a 17" winter wheel and does work with Golf R and PP GTIs
