Trading my 2015 R for an 2018 RS3

Took delivery last week. Car is pretty awesome. Can't wait for tunes to be available to unleash its full potential. While the car is fast, it does feel like it has been purposely under tuned.

My RS 3 should show up in December. Been a really long wait. I thought I was going to replace my 2016 R, and instead I think I’ll keep turning my R into more of a track toy and only lightly mod the RS 3.

I am going to take a look at one of these this week. I think I might be let down by the space in the back/utility compared to the R.

My RS3 shows up in about a month. I love my 2016 R... granted I’ve put money into it to make it a great track car that can scoot and stop fast. So, keeping it—will daily the RS3 and get medieval on the R, Stage 3 built motor and coilovers ahoy!

I have a hard time dumping more money into the R when I can start with basically where I am now in stock form.

$6500 for BT and my labor to run what an RS3 runs with a $8000 tune.

$8000 tune... I think you might be over paying haha.

Seriously though I do agree with your logic. Why spend $6,500 that I'll never get back on our car when I could spend a few hundred to get the same results and retain a better resale value on my investment.

I had every intention of trading my GTI in for a Golf R, but now maybe I'll wait an extra year and save up and buy an RS3...?

What about the Youtube guy that traded his brand new RS3 in for a Mustang GT because he didn't like the pedal throttle mapping? LOL!

Ya but that was with different tires, weight reduction, and on ethanol tune. So far from tune only. Apr’s tune only ran low 11s, which is impressive but not nearly as impressive as insinuating a tune only knocked off 1.4 seconds off the stock 1/4 mile time.

So it ran with tune only low 11s with a 118ish trap speed.

This comment is a little misleading.

11.8s stock
11.1s stage 1
10.7s with E tune
10.5s lighter weight- Pulled seats 150lbs= 1.5 tenths

Knocking half a second off with a standard 93 octane tune and 100% stock everything aint bad. Hitting 11.1s from 11.8s takes a lot. A lot more than going from 12.8 to 12.1.

Their E tune is the real crowd pleaser here. Knocking over 1 full second from stock just from a change in fuel and tune is fantastic.

It should also be noted that the highest DA was recorded when ran stage 1 tune. That means they probably would had been closer to 11.0s, maybe a high 10.9 with a 100 da like the other tunes.

How am I, misleading???

One guy posted, stage 1 tune, and 10.55 at 127, I took that and I’m sure many others would too, as TUNE ONLY and that’s FAR from true.

Low 11s at 118-119mph is impressive, still they swapped tires though but hell bone stock 11.9 is impressive! Motortrend got a 12.1 at 112-113mph bone stock oem rubber.

But there was allot more to that 10.55 run than just a tune.

What is "a lot more"? They pulled out 150 lbs and they were on sticky rubber. Big woop. You make it out like they had a BT hiding under the hood. Being on an E tune is still just a tune only with sticky tires. Am I missing something here?
