VW OEM Sport Springs?!?!?

I'm guessing they're saying incompatible as in it was designed and sold on paper for the TSI's and not GTI's. But then again that's like saying I can't buy GTI exhausts for my TSI because on paper it's not compatible when realistically it will fit with slight adjustments.

Hey Tamer,

I agree, they don't want to take any risk and they probably haven't
spent much time on the matter, e.g. by comparing part numbers and
corresponding specs.
I did a quick research, say reading the German TUV certificate, which
uses to come with the VW/DG spring kits, and had a visit on the VWZ
website (also German), which is another proper reference. Fortunately
I was right with my former suggestion. :)

There are two DG/VW Zubehör spring kits that will work on the GTI
incl. Clubsport nicely (which I know for certain from other members
who have tried them):

1.

5G3 071 677 E - rated for up to 1050 kg front weight - 2-door - IRS

https://shops.volkswagen.com/de_DE/...y!4252:904_VWZ_OZ:Category&channel=904_VWZ_OZ

This kit is technically the most correct, since my manual Clubsport
is rated at 1020 kg and DSG Clubsports will certainly weigh slightly
more (say, 1040 kg or something like this). Both are still below the
offcial limit. Personally I would go for these (and I likely will) as I
don't want to go too low and I love having some safety margin. ;)

2.

5G3 071 677 D - rated for up to 1010 kg front weight - 2-door- IRS

https://shops.volkswagen.com/de_DE/...y!4252:904_VWZ_OZ:Category&channel=904_VWZ_OZ

This kit will also fit any GTI including the Clubsport, since the physical
fitment is the same across the platform (with the exception of torsion
beam rear axles on the 'lesser' Golfs), but it's rated for less weight and,
as a consequence, will lower the front slightly more. While I personally
would prefer the 'E' version, I'm still convinced you wouldn't do any big
mistake with the 'D' springs if you want to lower the front a little more.
The difference is still marginal. Remember there are other kits rated for
just 930 kg (designed for smaller engined Golfs).

As mentioned there are also kits designed for 4-door Golfs, but these
would result in a higher ride height on rear, since they come with rear
spings that are slightly longer. I strongly believe this isn't necessary,
and the two-door springs do work better even on four-door Golfs/GTIs.
If you want your rear sitting closer to stock you could also use the 4-
door springs. However, instead of this, you could also swap the rear
spring seats/pads for Audi TT ones, as these are slightly thicker and
thus would raise the rear a tad.

Interestingly the TUV certificate does not exclude the GTI. It just says
'Golf', IRS or torsion beam, door count, weights and EC type approval.
My GTI Clubsport meats this type approval, probably any GTI will. So
the springs are even road legal on any GTI in Germany and Austria etc..
Pretty amazing. Anyway, a GTI is pretty much the same weight as a
similarly equipped Euro spec Golf 2.0 TDI.

Hope this helps. ;)

One last note:

These kits are European market offerings. Sadly these two - as very
most of the range - are not sold in the US.

;)

btw
IRS = independent rear suspension (won't fit cars with torsion beam rear)

Breaking Badly, gazillions amounts of thanks for going through all that, i will take that smart reply of yours and make it look like mine and send them an email now from an unhappy customer!!!

i will make this last trial, before getting the Eibach Pro Kit, it lowers about the same i guess (30mm).

Will keep you posted, thanks a lot again

If they're still reluctant to order and fit these springs for you you could
order them in Europe and get them fitted somewhere else instead. There
are some vendors who ship worldwide. For example many forum members
purchased their Clubsport S mufflers from two East-European vendors.

Breaking Badly, any view on Eibach springs?

The Euro Eibach Pro are excellent. They're linear, match the
GTI/CS stock shocks nicely and ride like stock.
Just be careful as the Eibachs sold in the US are different.

I can't recall if BB mentioned again, but I will repeat for those of us in North America that only the "E" model springs are sold here.

My dealership also said the same. That these were not compatible with my GTI. When I get around to it, I will be finding someone else to install them.

Volkswagen dealers use to fully rely on the VW parts catalogue ETKA
and ETKA says for some reason these springs are for 'lesser' Golfs up
to 1.8 TSI only. Despite this, the TÜV certificate says yes to the GTI.

To avoid confusion: It's 5G4 071 677 E what is available in the US. ;)
That's a '4-door' version. Note '5G4' instead of '5G3' (2-door) which I
mentioned above. I know it's little anoying with all these numbers. :D

so i copied your reply above and sent it to VW as if it was me the brilliant .... today i heard back from them, indeed this is correct, and the springs should fit my car, they asked for couple of days while they figure how to override the system to be able to place the order :))

If this works i will go for it as it will keep my warranty intact.

This should lower the car 1.1 inches right?

Thanks a lot, it looks great, just the right amount of lowering.

I hope i can get the same and keep my warranty as well, lets see.

They will get back to first to say if they will be able to order any of the 2. I will go for the E. What do u think?
My son has already ordered a pair of springs from Eibach, he drives the Golf R and he wouldn't go for the VW even of they can sell the springs.

It's a matter of taste. ;)

'E' = better practicability
'D' = lower on front
