Anyone track their car yet? Went to Willow Springs twice over the last month to go on Big Willow (1:46) and Streets of Willow (1:40). First time on those tracks and first time tracking a car ever. Holy shit it was fun. Went with a friend for a little Mk7 Manual vs DSG battle. LOL.

I'm looking to auto-x my car this year. Probably wait a bit before I track since it'll eat up tires and brakes so quickly. I also don't want to go to a track on all-seasons, will wait till I go through these and get summers.

I'd prefer to find an auto-x school so if you have any recs in socal let me know! I can't find anything as of now lol.

Yes, I've done 30 track days in my Mk 7 R. My next HPDE is with the Audi Club SoCal chapter at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, NV at the end of April. The event is up on Motorsportsreg.com. Membership in the Audi Club is required to attend but I think you can sign up to join the club during registration. In-car instruction is available for drivers of all skill levels.

My last event was up at Thunderhill a couple of weeks ago. Here are a couple of laps with my intermediate student in my right seat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW0ee5JtAwI

What oil temps are you seeing on track?

It varies with the ambient temperature with 255-260 being the maximum at maybe a low 90's ambient. I avoid events at venues that are likely to be hotter than that because I don't enjoy it. My very first track day was a number of years ago at Buttonwillow in June where it was105 degrees and it sucked. I learned my lesson. Summer is for Laguna Seca or autocross.
