MK7 GTI steering wheel vs Golf?

The steering wheel on my MK7 Sportwagen feels plasticky and terrible. Is the GTI MK7 steering wheel much better? I assume the electronic controls will still work if I swap a GTI MK7 wheel correctly? Or, any other recommendations for a decent steering wheel?

GTI has leather.
Feels good to me.

Has anyone done an MK7 GTI steering wheel swap onto a MK7 Golf? I will just need the steering wheel and the airbag? Anything else?

consider getting a leather cover from wheelskins.com - it will make a night and day difference.
