VMR V804s: A Review

The V804s I ordered arrived yesterday and I have to say, I'm mighty impressed. Far better than I imagined and the pics themselves don't do it justice in how they look in person.

For those who don't know (I didn't initially), V804s in this size - 18x8 ET42 - weigh in at 18.8lbs. Always good to know when you want to lower that unsprung weight. That puts them even slightly lighter than my Neuspeeds.

With these wheels the car feels even MORE nimble than before which, positively, equals a more fun ride. VMR hasn't advertised these as LW wheels. Mostly, I'd wager, because they're the newest flow-formed wheel they offer. I recommend they do advertise them as such as its one of the lightest options available in this size.

For those of you who know my build, I'm moving away from the blacked out look. So, after much consideration, I went with hyper silver because I wanted to bring back those accents in the car. Plus, it's a light, classic, finish that really highlights the design of the wheel itself. These were my top choice wheels so I'm thrilled to have them. They look mean as hell but keep the car looking tasteful. Already have gotten many looks with these; the light hits them just right.

Definitely 5/5 for me. And that's including the price, which competes well with the competition in that regard too. Couldn't be happier!

Now for the best part: Wheel porn!

Gotta say. Those wheels look great and this is much nicer than the blacked out look.

Thanks! I agree, for TR it looks much cleaner.

Man, those look nice. How's that +42 offset working with your VWR springs?

Perfection. Was going to put on smaller spacers in the rear but there's actually no need. Sits plenty flush with no rub. Sporty yet practical stance.

Awesomesauce. Might be cloning your setup when the time comes! [emoji6]

225 or 235 tire?

Stock tires rn but I'd probably go 235 when I get new ones.

Hulk, those look great. I have a red 4-dr and was going to go with black wheels like I had on the WRX wagon I came from.. but seeing the form/lines of the wheels pop out with silver on your ride has changed my mind. Thanks for posting the pics. I'll make sure I do the same when I get my new wheels on.

Glad I could help! Definitely pops on TR

Any idea which wheels you're going with?

I'd been looking at VMR 710s in Hyper Silver and Neuspeed RSe10s in Glossy Machined Silver -- 18x8.5 to wrap in 245/35/18s, since I'm lowered on VWR springs. I am considering 245/40/18s instead of /35s but I'm not sure if those are too far toward the "meaty" end of the spectrum v. the "rubber band" end, both look-wise and potential-to-rub-wise.

I will consider the VMR 8XX now that I know that they're that light-weight and how they look on yours. The VMR 710s had been my "bargain" choice, and the Neuspeeds would be if I decide to throw in more cash. I just got the VWR springs on, and I need to decide whether to go with spacers for a while (ECS "stance enhance" 15mm and 20mm F/R) or just go for new wheels.
