I buy genuine Quantum 5w30 oil from ebay, £19.00 for 5 liters and most sellers are main dealers.

Thanks, do you know why? Or what happens if it's not?

VW 507 approved oil is designed for VW Longlife service regimes.

Its a low SAP oil to help reduce potential blockage of the Diesel Particulate Filter.

Most VW dealers now use Castrol Edge (VW 507) or Quantum (VW 507) for both Time/Distance servicing or Longlife servicing.

VW 507 00 - Longlife III

Hi guys. Anyone know what oil the 2016 GTD uses in the UK? The book just says VW long life...
Same as it does anywhere else. VW 507 00 (Longlife III).
These are either 0W-30 or 5W-30. Same applies to any
current DPF equipped VW Diesel car. It does not matter
whether you're running fixed or flexible intervals (on the
Diesels).
Volkswagen used to use a Castrol 5W-30 while currently
filling Shell Helix Ultra AV-L 0W-30 from factory. On a side
note, Shell Helix Ultra ECT 0W-30 is the exact same stuff
as Helix Ultra AV-L 0W-30, as is Volkswagen's own Vapsoil
507 00 Premium 0W-30. Just the bottles differ.

;)

Cheers you're right it's 5w30ll
It doesn't need to be 5W-30. What's 'll' for 'Longlife'? Or
"Longlife II"?
Don't use "Longlife II" which equals to VW 506 01 (and is
0W-30 only) and was designed for early Pumpe-Düse TDIs
without DPF.

Lastly, RTFM !!

I thought they moved to Castrol factory fill from Shell some while ago in Europe.

They advertise 'Castrol borne at the factory' on the VW website and promote Castrol as the recommended oil.

Don't they use oil filler caps with Castrol moulded in them ?
Seems strange if they still used Shell as a factory fill.
