Golf front bumper cover on GTI feasible?

Just curious at this point, I love the GTI performance but prefer the more subdued Golf look. The R is even better looking, but I want to keep the fog lights.

Is there any non-aesthetic reason that the standard Golf bumper wouldn't work on a GTI: Cooling?

I realize the R's have larger intercoolers and need the additional lower venting where the fogs would reside so I'm not really looking at that option now...

Any input is welcome!

Manual or DSG? First check if your GTI has an auxiliary radiator.

I think only R's have the auxiliary radiator, thus the lack of fog lights. GTI's don't have this.

Isnt that second pic (with aux radiator) a GTI?

Normal GTI don't have the aux rad. The golf bumper will bolt up

Thanks for all the input, it's a manual. I took a look into the grill and no sign of auxiliary radiators. The opening on the base Golf looks to be slightly shorter, but I don't ever see going further than a stage 1 or 2 tune so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue. I'm more likely to bake the clutch than overheat the engine I think!
