I am so desperately waiting for the new season to begin... Couldn't it do a 'bang' and tomorrow was the 8th of April?
So, out of this desperation, two more uploads from the Archive 2016 done. Actual uploaded for the passenger and the
mates that followed me, so maybe quite boring. Nothing spectacular except the proof that brakes are most important,
could avoid a crash on the last centimeter...
Maybe it is cause there are not so much 7 Rs on The Ring regularly and I was one of the very first in total. 'Not much' compared to the flood of Meganes and Cupras. Or BMW E36/E46. Which is sad on the one hand cause you have no big experience pool. But nice on the other hand cause you have a more or less unique track ride.
In the end it was quite good to total the .:R. The oil problem and loss of power which it brought would have cost me lots of bucks to bring it back to work. And the insurance covered the whole value of the car. So I had the chance to think about a new track tool. And a TT-RS I always wanted to try. Win-win-win so...
Three new vids from the archive. Like always in the winter break nothing too spectacular (otherwise they would have been posted during the season already ) but worth to have a look at, I think.
1. For my Norwegian friend Frode again cause of his wunderful 'Teichmann' 993
I uploaded some (4) older but not yet published vids onto my channel. Coming from
the archive again of course, all from 2016, all Nordschleife, all driven with the G VII
.:R. Mixed emotions cause in the new season beginning in April a new car will be my
Tracktool. So I looked up all the vids if I find some that are not too boring and worth
uploading. I know, different people have different meanings for boring, but this is my
choice:
1. Very very rare lap in which I only saw one car in total on track,
not usual on Nordschleife, only possible weekdays in the evening
2. Lap in wich we were suddenly slowed down by two safety bikes
from around 3:15 - 6:00, this happens sometimes. Some nice BMW
M3s on my way, even one E46 GTR (from 2:35)
Done a thing. Or let's better say 'tried'... The Golf 7 R never comes back as you all know. And next weekend hopefully the new 2017 season starts - with the new tracktool. So I was a little melancholic about that. And thought about a very last upload honouring the Golf. And so I looked up all the short video sequences I had collected over the years when one of the filmers around Nordschleife got me on tape. I cutted them and tried to put them together to a Nordschleife lap - viewed from outside. Of course ther were missing parts. I took them from vids in which following cars filmed me instead. And I got an entire Nordschleife lap - outside view. Here it is. The last video with the fabulous Golf 7 R.
Something new to tell about the new tracktool. The TT-RS is finished for the moment. Got some new pics as well (no good quality...)
Car is lifted but you can see the important things
KW Clubsport Coil Kit, Carbopad rotor, ATS GTR 9.5 x 18 with PZero Corsa 265/35/18
Five!
Cage is in
Final ride height is set up
Side view
The race seat (Sparco Evo XXL) is too big for the car after having the cage installed.
And it is impossible to get it street legal btw. And smaller seats (like Recaro Pole Position)
are not made for me and my Compagnon (BMIs > 30 ). So the point "seat + belts" has
to be done later after having checked market & possibilities. Maybe next winter...
Can't wait to see your first time tearing up the track.
As far as the tires, those wheels are pretty wide for 235. Could you have fit 245 or 255 and do you think there would be benefit?
