Just had an email form VW stating we loosing google street view at the end of the year, and google earth at the end of the contract period, why I ask?

Because APIs sit still for no man, and VW did the sums and realised it would be prohibitively expensive to continue to backport the new code to old hardware for the normal ten-year expectations of a car owner (in many cases it just wouldn't work). Same thing happens to smart TVs and all sorts of internet service dependent devices. (Witness recent drop of a load of older hardware from Tidal support, and YouTube disappearing from millions of smart TVs a year ago when they disabled their old codecs.
