I like the Fiesta ST but really it looks like a mini Focus ST to me. For $3K more I'd rather go with the bigger car overall. And as cheap as the Focus' reputation has been in the past, the Fiesta has an even more ridiculous stigma. Seriously who wants to drive something called a "Fiesta". It's like Ford coming out with a new Pinto race car. Ummm no thanks.
I never drove one (owned a Focus ST, an older one, though) but I understand the appeal of the FiST is that its smaller size and comparatively more lively demeanor, plus it's lower price when fully kitted out than a comparably priced FoST, made it attractive. The current focus strikes me as even less competitive, really; the cost is right up there with the GTI, the interior is nowhere near as nice, and the mechanicals, while sporting more power, don't seem to be overall as refined.
