JB4 Logging, stacking and Map 6 Discussion

Adjusting the FOL won't make it richer. Is this on the new firmware George has been giving out? Perhaps he is having it run leaner to match the other tuners. It looks good otherwise, but yeah would like to see what it does up near 6k and beyond.

I realized from the log my fuel bias reset to 0 again... even though it's set to 100 in the JB4 app. The AFR tap is secure so I guess this goes back to the warning that settings sometimes may rese on their own...

By the way, I read some posts about George mentioning higher trims (but less than 45-50) means more power. Since my trims are currently 30 or less, should I reduce my FOL to 40? It came shipped with 60 default by the way, even though George said it should ship with 40.

Are you using the bluetooth? People wonder why I won't give up my crusty old laptop...it never has issues.

In regards to trims, trims will go up by default as you push more boost or use more E85. Artificially lowering it won't make the car go faster or the engine make more power.

I switched over to the app+USB. It's a lot easier to manipulate in vehicle.

Not even sure how that's possible. The dropdown doesn't have 25 fields from what I recall. Now I am intrigued. What is the software version?

Latest firmware and latest software.

Loaded the new firmware, left the laptop attached as I thought I might get a log and drove to work. Part way there had some weird stuff go on with the engine and when I checked at work the app said Map 25.

George said that could happen if either the serial or USB connection moves. I'll just say it is not something you want to happen.

He did respond, and yes ROW GTIs run less boost and more timing.

Map6 is preset absolute and since your ECUpsi is different than ours it won't be +5psi for everyone (and it won't be +5 throughout...also IATs affect ECUpsi).

I don't particularly like map6 that it has default. It is weak down low and too strong up top.

There is good reason why we always say run a log no matter what. Everyone's car is different. Let's look at your last log:

Timing looks good early on for the amount of boost (which makes sense now) but then falters because it's too much boost.

Leave the low rpm as is.

I made the change earlier today and juat had a short highway drive home, pulls quite smooth up top now but didn’t have A chance to log yet.

Does it looks like I can get anymore out of it? or is it too aggressive in places?

Turn it up early, turn it down later. Turn it up 1psi from 3000-4500,drop it 2psi from 4500+

I ended up on Map 25 today due to my laptop and usb cable...
I've had this happen to me twice. Both times I had just filled the tank up, left the laptop on while I turned the car off, drove a couple miles to work, then once I parked the car would idle funny, stall and jb4 would disconnect. It wouldn't let me reconnect right away, but after work I'd try and reconnect and it would be on map 25 or 46. I would set it back to 4, log, it looked fine, set back to 6, log, it looked fine so I never thought much of it.
I do run an e blend most of the time, and thought maybe the idle would be from the ECU adjusting to a higher e blend..but never threw a code or anything so I let it go.
