Wheel alignment

I am having a Mavis Discount tire to mount and balance new tires for 2016 Golf R. Can I trust them to do computerized wheel alignment? Also they asked if I wanted European or American Specs? I honestly don’t know what that means?
Thanks

In 43 years of driving, I've yet to have a tire shop do an alignment properly, so I stopped trying years ago. You may have better luck, but if you really need an alignment done properly, I'd seek out a frame & alignment specialist locally who comes with solid word-of-mouth reviews.

Do you really have reason to believe you need an alignment? New tires & wheels don't automatically mean you need one. If your previous tires were wearing evenly, and you had no pulling issues, you may well not need to get it aligned anyways.

I use these guys in NJ. Find them to be extremely thourough and precise. I make it a good habit to check the alignment at each rotation/seasonal installation. Although it’s probably overkill, it’s most likely going to extend the life of the tires, albeit ever so slightly. I get told that often we won’t even know the wheels are out of alignment due to the fact that the power steering mechanics and us subconciosly making the required adjustments to compensate. Just another way to baby the car and keep it well maintained. Also, the tri-state area has an atrocious number of potholes and awful roads, so no doubt the alignment takes a beating on a regular basis. Hackensackspring will check the alignment and give you a print-out, and if adjustments are not required, they will send you on your way with your wallet shut.

I’m with KevinC on this one. The last time I paid to have an alignment done it was at a well established tire store about 40 years ago. I had to get under the car and show the guy how to adjust camber on my ‘75 Rabbit. Now I do it myself. Very seldom is any adjustment needed.
