3M protective film?

Hello guys/gals. Super excited to be here and contribute to the forum! I am going to be purchasing a new 2015 Golf R in spring.

My question is does anyone have any experience with the 3M or other brand protective films that are applied on hood, bumper, and mirrors? If so how is it for longevity? I am very fussy and clay bar and wax my vehicles twice a season. This car I plan on keeping for a very long time. So the durability is important and I do not want it to fade or yellow looking different than the rest of the car.

Any input or comments is appreciated! Thanks

not a gti but:

went with xpel ultimate clear bra. 10 year warranty parts and labor, i believe double that of 3m's warranty. well worth it in my opinion. last car i had had nasty in chips in the bumper and hood, some of which were starting to rust. i have this clear bra for all my cars.

the only downside i would say is, it's hard to get the wax off of the edges of the clear bra when you wax the car. just takes more work. for every car i get, i'll be doing this
