Same problem on my 17' R with VWR springs. Car had ~2K miles on it when I did the install but it sounds like the strut bearings, been driving me mad. I really only hear it when parking or any type of slow driving with significant steering input. For example I go up and down 9 floors in a parking garage everyday and that's when I really tune into the noise. I am reluctant to pull it apart, after the initial install I had to pay $400 for an alignment at VW and that was by far less than the other VW dealer near me that I called. My car has DAP and they have to re-calibrate the senors although, maybe only because I lowered it slightly. Not sure if I could get a normal alignment after a simple tear down and rebuild.
